New Fandom!

What's this? Another post less than a month after my last one??? I'm genuinely shocked at myself, but I hope maybe it will become a trend.

In this last month I have been having a blast following Mark Reads The Hobbit. It's really lovely to watch someone slowly start to get a book that I really love, even if I don't understand why he doesn't like Tolkien's narration.

I've also started watching Red Dwarf. I think I'm in love with it. I've gotten through the whole series, even the Back to Earth specials, and I'm starting over at the beginning. It's such an easy show to watch in some ways! Most sitcoms make me have to take breaks because they have social situations that stress me out, and I can't really find them funny when I'm really stressed. Red Dwarf did do that to me a few times over the course of the whole series, but not nearly so much that it made watching it no fun. (This is why I stopped watching Glee after only a few episodes. It was making me exhausted, and I was taking several hours to watch a single episode.)

In addition to being really funny, I think Red Dwarf has some really fascinating characters, especially Holly and Rimmer. From what I've seen, most of the fandom seems to really love Rimmer. He's the adorably dysfunctional smeghead that makes life interesting, I guess. But I haven't seen as much love for Holly. I think he/she/it is a fascinating character, and it makes me want to write fic. There seems to be a bit of blue and orange morality to Holly, and it keeps making me think. I like that.

I've also found this interesting online series called Carpool thanks to RD. I've only seen a couple so far, but they're just interesting little conversations with people. And I actually know who a lot of the people are. I'm shocking myself again.
