Yesterday I had afternoon tea at the Savoy Hotel with Jared and Justin and two of Jared's friends visiting from Long Island. Wow, that tea was amazing. They kept bringing tons of food, the tea was delicious, we had a live piano player taking requests of good old songs like Misty. We were all in suits, drinking high quality tea and amazing champagne-- it was so classy. I felt like I was on the Titanic.

Then Justin and I went to the high class high roller casino in Green Park, near Buckingham Palace, where we applied for membership (it's the only casino in London with craps, if you can believe it!). Memberships here take a while to go through, but we convinced some random member outside to sign us in as guests so we could play a little bit. Lost a bit of money, but we stayed out playing until 5am, and had a lot of fun. That game is way to addictive for its own good. And everyone else had awful runs....everytime the dice came to me to roll I would put money all across the board and win back what I lost on other peoples' rolls because it took me hours to hit a seven. I was actually surprised with how many people were gathered around the craps table on a Wednesday night-- there were 10-12 people there pretty much the whole time, so it was actually an exciting and fun game, unlike when it was just Justin and I playing at a table in Monte Carlo.

Tonight I've got a phone interview with an asset management firm in Boston, so I've been spending all day researching for it. I've always found phone interviews to be so difficult; you can't really gauge how your interviewer is responding other than hearing his voice. There's no body language, there's no visual presentation, charisma, etc...it's all about speaking forcefully on the phone, something I've never been particularly fond of. Well, at least I know that I'm pretty well-prepared from an academic standpoint for the interview. I just have to prepare a bit for those silly bs questions that always come up: Name one of your weaknesses. Or Tell me about a time where you took initiative and it paid off. Or What makes you think you're the most qualified for this position? *sigh* The interview's at 10:30pm, so I still have quite a bit of time to prepare. Wish me luck!
