Thursday Noon today went very well. The music was awesome, and I think the total improvization on the Valente Gagliarda Napolitana (with an awesome keyboard player also improvizing on the virginal) was a success. A lot of people had very nice things to say about the performances, some of whom are not great fans of early music. I had a shortened lesson afterwards, because the only time I could have was right before wind anschluss. It was a good lesson, though. I need to make my audition CD soon, and I want to apply for the Early Music America scholarship, and probably the recorder society scholarship (which I won last year, but don't know if I could win again)
Anschluss rehearsal was miserable torture as usual, and my 3-4 month old reeds are dying. I hope I don't have to do this much oboe playing next year. The last thing I want to do is sit in a room and make reeds for an instrument that I don't study anymore. And get this, I'm recording for the Naxos label with PWE in April...as a non oboe major. I find it to be pretty funny.
After rehearsal, I went out with Rebecca, Adam and Kyle to Chili's in Timonium and only got dessert because I had already eaten at Peabody. It was fun to be amongst the suburbanites.
Oh, besides the Jordi Savall concert next weekend here in Baltimore, there is also a Tempesta di Mare chamber concert in Philly that I probably want to go to next Saturday night. Anybody want to go with me or give me a ride? Otherwise, I will probably go by train or bus alone. I just have to hear Julliane Baird and my teacher doing Handel's German Arias.
