We went up to Cleveland yesterday. We'd planned on going to the zoo this weekend, since it was going to be nice and it's going to be the last decent paycheck I have for a little while.
The Cleveland Zoo just got in new Mexican wolves and baby bats!
This squirrel was REALLY people friendly. It came up within, like, two feet of me because it thought my camera was food. He was super fat and really fluffy.
I...don't remember what this is. It was in the Rainforest, however.
BATS! These are the best pics I've gotten of any bats so far. There was a baby bat, but the pic isn't very clear.
Mexican Wolves! They were SUPER jittery and easily spooked because they've only been in their enclosure for, like, two months. But they were actually close to the windows, so I could get pics and you could see them.
We then went and bought a bunch of food from the asian markets. I'm so happy we have nice ones now. Especially Park To Shop. I'm just sad we STILL can't locate a tomago pan anywhere. And the only place that sells bento stuff is the market in Randall. And Randall's a cesspool and not worth going to even for bento stuff.
But we got lots and lots of ramen, tasty seaweed, some Pocky, dumplings, more soy sauce, EEL, nummy milk tea, Ramune, etc., etc. Lots of delicious nommins.
Picked up rat foor and ferret food, so they're food containers are all filled up. Traded in some games and TJ picked up...um...something. I don't remember what game she--OH! Mana Khemia because it was only, like, $12 after her trade-in credit.
I also bought CUTE undies from Fredrick's because they were on clearance. I really have to keep myself from going in place like that because I really adore CUTE, PRATICAL things like socks and underwear and stuff like that. And Fredrick's is expensive, sooo....
Now, in other news, which I didn't write about the other day because I was too full of rage. Or I just didn't care enough to.
Apparently, Al got FINAL NOTICES on the GAS and ELECTRIC. They're, like, $300 or something each. It's absurd and pathetic. You get notices before that. You get LATE notices when you haven't paid your bills. I don't know why he thought NOW would be a good time to bring it up when they're SO overdue.
Initally, we were going to try and use the whole $250 I got this check to try and find a place in Kent. We realized, even with help from friends, that might not be do-able, because I'd have to work at least two, if not three jobs to support us comfortably. If I was SURE I'd get more hours at Target out there, it wouldn't be an issue. I could do that and part time at Aladdin's or something and we'd be fine. But the economy is such shit right now I can't really say for sure.
So, I'm going to see if Al just wants to cut the utilities off in his name and I'll get them put in my name. That way WE'RE responsible for them and if shit fucks up, it's OUR problem and we don't have to worry about not hearing about late notices or FINAL NOTICES AND CUT OFF NOTICES WTF.
And the bills aren't even that expensive! The water and electric aren't over $100. The gas is probably a bit more, but we won't be using it come spring/summer. And by that time, we'll hopefully have moved with Squeeji and Elliot, so it won't even be an issue!
Just... FFFFFFFFFFFFF. Enraging, really.
EDIT: Just talked to Karen and Al. Apparently Karen's going to try to put something on the bills. And we suggested getting them put in MY name and starting fresh and it didn't seem to be a huge issue. So I'm not terribly concerned (I really wasn't in the first place, to be honest). Plus, they bought us over a nice bed Karen got from a relative and we'll be getting a picnic table for the patio for when the weather breaks!
Overall, I figure we just have to take it as it comes. I can't afford an apartment right now so we kinda have to take what we can get.
AND. Work cut my hours. Two days a week. Srsly. It's awesome. :/
But I am working on commissions. Slowly. I want to clear my queue out but the art rut is making it quite difficult.
