... Forget it. I need an animal that won't make noise or die too easily. And a new bed, too, I guess. Where can I get those?

Not really. Mine doesn't, anyway. A long-haired one might be a different story.

So I won't get a long-haired one. What else would I need?

Food, a litter box. Mine just sleeps on my bed but you could get it its own if you wanted. Some toys and things probably, but they'll play with anything that's not nailed down so it's not like you have to spend a lot of money.

They pretty much play on their own, actually. And mine's sort of lazy, he doesn't really do much but sleep.

I have some toy mice and things. Half the time he goes for paper bags and dust bunnies, though, I don't think cats are really all that picky.
