[Zelda's writing as she speaks. The scribbling isn't constant, however, so it appears Zelda is making notes on her conversation.]

I understand that there has been a significant boost in morale as of recent. Freedom from a single object does not guarantee security or freedom from another object beneath the subjugation of the prior. Anyone who ( Read more... )

That's nothing new, even if I just got here. People are like that... I'll bet pretty much anywhere.

Don't expect all of 'em to agree. Some just like to stay blinded against things.

I have heard that ignorance is bliss. In some cases, I could see how that would be the case, but it seems far less hurtful to confront something head on than to live more with a blinded gaze.

People will do as they will themselves to. It is interesting, how fear grapples onto us and often pulls our strings.

That's a courageous way of dealing with the world. Not everyone can face up to that, and some will go out of their way just to avoid more pain.

If they realize they've got that kind of will.

It would be nicer--even if unrealistic--if courage could be shared among others. I fail to see how avoiding the situation would help one avoid pain, however. Would that not only cause more in the long run? Even someone who ignores the predicament will eventually come to face it. When that happens, is that not more traumatic?

People, in that situation, should they be helped or simply left to their own devices, do you think?

Reality is pretty damned painful for some people. Either they can't see ahead to what you're talking about, or they just won't. I guess some of them come around or change their mind.

...The second one. You can't help someone unless they want that help.

Yes. This is true. Even I cannot deny that. I suppose for people time is just required. Most things require some form of time.

[Zelda nods slowly, although he can't see it. She's inclined to agree.]

...This is true. What a very accurate thing to say.

Either that or a wake up call.

... [This is a pretty deep conversation to be having with a stranger.]

People are just like that... name's Keats, by the way.

[Zelda's actually used to speaking with almost everyone aboard about such things, even with people she considers enemies to some degree.]

Keats. It is a privilege to meet you. My name is Zelda.

Privilege, huh? It's nice to meet you too... you been on this ship a long time?

[He doesn't mind, just wanted to get her name at least.]

I think it has been about six months since I arrived. I am not certain if anyone would define that as being a long time, however.

[She's quiet for a moment.]

I have not heard your voice before. Have you only recently arrived?

Less than some people, or so I hear. These kinda boats don't sail anymore where I come from, but... six months or a year on the water? Makes me wonder if there's really a destination.

Yeah, I've only been around a few days.

Before I came here, I had never been on a ship. There are some who have been aboard for nearly a year. The captain has always said the same thing, though. This ship is headed for the Golden Shore, although I have no idea what or where that may be.

I hope the ship has been good to you in your stay.

That's what I heard... sounds a little too good to be true. Considering that it's been a year since this boat's been sailing, I'm not so sure it isn't.

So far yeah. Better food than I've had in a long time.

How come you've never been on a ship? [Well, he knows why he hasn't, but he's curious.]

I could not say if we have made any progress. I also, however, cannot say where the journey of this ship began.

[She raises an eyebrow.]

Well... I was unaware of any lands that required a ship of this magnitude to be used. To be fair, I spent a good portion of my life behind castle walls.

Maybe it's been sailing like this for longer than we know.

[Now he raises an eyebrow.]

Castle? ... You lived in one of those, huh? [There's a tense edge to his voice for some reason..]

Perhaps you are right. We would need to check with some of the older passengers and see.

[She'll ask Jak later, if she remembers, and if he has time.]

...Ah, yes. I am the princess of Hyrule. It was important for me to understand my obligations to properly care for the land in place of my father.

[All professionalism there.]
