Christmas 2007

Dec 25, 2007 00:35

So, technically it's Christmas. It's after midnight at the very least, dragging us kicking and screaming into the happiest time of the year whether we wanted to go or not. And it is happy. I mean, what's better than trees full of ornaments and lights, stockings, presents, egg nog, wrapping paper, wreaths, carols, bells, jolly old elves with presents, and yuletide cheer?

Well, snow is pretty cool. I wouldn't mind some snow.

Aside from lacking snow, this Christmas looks to be a pretty good one. It kind of snuck up on me this year, almost as if there wasn't time to breathe between finishing the Fall semester of school, coming home, and suddenly *BLAMO!* it's Christmas! I got everyone's presents, and got them all wrapped. I saw most of my family already (a first for my extended family, who usually wait 'til after New Years to have a get-together). There are cookies, baked to tasty perfection by my mother. Dad has to work tomorrow, proving there's no rest for the weary employees of the CVS Pharmacy in Franklin (and most likely other places, too).

I digress. It's a happy time of the year, a time for fellowship, fun, food, frolic, and fraternizing. A time to celebrate family, to celebrate friendships, to eat and drink and be merry. A good time of the year. One everyone needs. A recharge of the old batteries, and needed helping of goodwill and cheer.

May all of you find some time to recharge, to rest after braving crowds of anxious, lunatic shoppers, and Starbucks-a-holics, and frenzied drivers, and busy parking lots, and packed freeways, and long checkout lines. To sit down, sip some hot cocoa, and reflect; to muse upon the finer things in life, the simpler things, and the amusing and funny things.

Merry Christmas to all. To all, a good night, a great tomorrow, and a wonderful new year.

christmas, holidays
