Every few months a trashy pop song comes along and steals my heart. Now, I think it's a given that Avril's "Girlfriend" is pop gold and everyone can't help but imagine what it would be like to re-make that music video into something much sassier (and funnier and cuter…)
....BUT I'm not here to talk about that. I'm here to talk about Rihanna's "Umbrella". Have you heard it? I'll probably hate it in a week, but there's something about a song about an umbrella that makes me giggle and then after hearing the sappy sentiment, it makes sigh and smile. Oh, and shouldn't we change the title to "Uhmbahrelah"? Because that girl does more with syllables than...someone that does a lot with syllables.
Oh, and in case you've thrown your hands up in the air and wondered where my real taste in music went, fear not! I highly recommend driving into the sunset and listening to The Decemberists' "Summersong". It kind of helps to remind one that shitty days won't last forever and that summer really is...something to sing about.
