Tropical locales never held the same interest for Alistair as they did for other people. He and the sun weren't on the best terms, after all, and tourist traps held no interest for him. Too muddled by all the people. Thus, they weren't much different to any other place, in his opinion ( Read more... )

Savannah creeped up to the door and very quietly knocked on it. She was losing her nerve already.

"Mmfh." He sleepily rolled off his bed and thumping and shuffling sounds could be heard before he opened the door, blinking owlishly. He looked all rumpled and fluffy.

"Hi, Savvy." Yawn.

"Hi. I...er..." She shuffled sandaled feet on the polished wood floor. "I...wanted to say, well, I'm sorry for causing you to get hurt and I wanted to know how you are doing and I wondered if you'd ever forgive me? I had no idea no, no idea you'd get hurt and thanks for saving me and -"

She was losing her nerve very quickly.

He listened, his head tilted slightly to the side, watching curiously. When her ramble started to peter out, he patted her arm. "Why don't you come in?" he said, heading back into the room and sitting on the rumply bed again.

Savannah followed him in, and stood before him, looking at the floor. "M sorry. How bad are you hurt and can I help you feel better?"

"I'm okay, actually. Clair gave me painkillers, put my nose back where it belongs. You'd barely know it was broken. But ... hmmm." He looked at her sidelong, somehow figuring she'd want to do something.

"Hmmm, what?" Her query was actually a bit fearful.

"You're scared..." A thought hit him. "Oh, no, nothing like that." The thought rather unnerved him.

Savannah finally caught on, and blushed scarlet, looking at the floor. That's not what she meant! "So you're not gonna yell at me, or throw things? Z webbed me, you know."

It wasn't what he meant, either, but after the moment of somewhat comical awkwardness passed, he tilted his head again, regarding her. "I'm not angry," he said softly.

"...I...I'm glad. I...God, if I only knew who he was or that that would happen, I'd have never..." *sneefle whimper cry*

Oh, no, don't cry, I hate seeing people cry... awh, damn... He crumbled like a crumbly thing what crumbles and got up, walking over to where she stood, and hugged her.

She clung to him as tightly as she dared, knowing he had broken ribs. "I'm sorry, I'm just...I'm so sorry, I don't know what I'm doing anymore."

He kept his arms around her, letting her cling, petting her hair. Poor scared thing. He remembered how overwhelmed he was when he was webbed, curled in a corner as soon as he'd regained consciousness and howling at Z to get out of his mind. And now he couldn't imagine him not being there. But that'd be a long time coming for Savannah, so he let her hang onto him as long as she wanted to.

She finally let go, and sat on the edge of the bed. "How long has Z been in your head and how do you...how do you live with him there?"

"He's been there for ... about a year or so. A lot of the time I couldn't hear him, but every once in a while I would hear random things or hear him talking to me. If I didn't know he was there, it would ahve driven me mad. It almost did. But that was only because I fought it, because I wanted him out.

Now ..." he sat next to her. "I think I'd be lonely without Z and the rest of the web. Always someone to talk to."
