Barnabas: Mistake? I don't know what you're talking about.
Angelique: You tried to betray me, but you shan't succeed. (laugh) Do you think by sending Josette away, she will be safe? You're wrong, Barnabas.
Barnabas: That remains to be seen.
A: I have more powers than you think. You don't believe me? Look behind you! Go on - Look!
[Barnabas turns round to watch the portrait of his beautiful Josette turn skeletal and bloody before his eyes.]
Barnabas: I will not be frightened by your trickery, Angelique! You cannot deceive me! You may
have power to distort the portrait, but you cannot harm Josette.
Angelique: You're a fool if you believe that!
Barnabas: And you're a fool to think I'd believe anything else! To harm Josette, you must first know where she is, and you don't know that.
Angelique: You went to her, didn't you? You told her about me! I warned you!
Barnabas: I did not tell her about you.
Angelique: But you sent her away.
Barnabas: Yes.
Angelique: Where?!

Angelique: [laughs.] Oh, Barnabas, you are a foolish man. Do you think by sending her away, you can prevent me from keeping you here? Oh, your Josette may be safe, but no one else is!

Angelique: Do you remember when Sarah was very ill? She had a terrible pain here, in her shoulder. [She sticks a pin in the shoulder of the doll.]
Barnabas: Stop it, Angelique!
Angelique: And another one, here in her chest!
Barnabas: Give me that doll!
Angelique: Stay away from me! This pin is aimed at her heart; if you come any closer...!
Barnabas: Please, Angelique. I'll do anything you want me to do - but please, remove those pins!
Angelique: No. See, I don't believe you anymore.
Barnabas: I promise you I will not leave Collinwood.
Angelique: Oh, you would leave immediately if you had no reason to stay here! And I am making certain that you have that reason!
Barnabas: I am telling you, Angelique, if you do anything to harm Sarah, I'll -
Angelique: -You'll do nothing! As long as she is on the brink of death.
Barnabas: "Brink of death"?!
Angelique: She will not die. Unless you deceive me again. But she will come close. Very close.
[Barnabas, in shock, runs to the chair to get the gun.]
[He pulls the trigger, shooting Angelique.]
Angelique: [She shrieks.] Barnabas! What have you done?!
[Angelique collapses, and Barnabas runs to her side to fetch the doll.]
Angelique: Y-you didn't do the job well enough, Barnabas... I am not dead yet. And while I can still breathe - I will have my revenge.
Angelique: I set a curse on you, Barnabas Collins! You wanted your Josette so much - well, you shall have her! But not in the way that you would have chosen. You will never rest, Barnabas. And you will never be able to love anyone - for whoever loves you - will die. That is my curse - and you will live with it through all eternity!
[Angelique collapses to the floor, seemingly dead.]
Barnabas: Angelique! Angelique?
[Barnabas walks into the foyer when he hears a crash noise. When he comes back in, there is a large bat hovering in the air.]
Barnabas: Oh no. Get - get away from me! Get away from me!
[The bat closes in, forcing Barnabas on the ground against a pillar, and bites his neck...]
