Wow, there's something wrong in the way you count the votes. The same icon cannot be both tied for First Place AND Third Place... You're supposed to have ONE total of votes for each icon, to determine if they ends up First OR Second OR Third. The same icon cannot be the most favorite icon (aka First) and the third favorite icon. (Third) The same icon can only also win in the other categories, like Best Crop or Most Creative, not First and Third ( ... )

Thank you very much for your long comment and for your concern! We know about the system you have described (1st place = 3 points, 2nd place = 2 points, 3rd place = 1 point) and have seen it at other icontests. However we think it's up to the mods and to the participants to decide which system to use.

Everyone is entitled to their own opinion, even if it's done rudely or done with some tact. I like the saying, "You can catch more flies with honey than with vinegar".

However, I've taken obidalastills ' ideas on how to vote: "The icon with the most first place votes will be awarded first place. The icon with the most second place votes will be awarded second place. The icon with the most third place votes will be awarded third place. Voting for placings will basically function the same way that voting for special categories does."

It's not that I don't believe you, it's just not how this community votes. I feel that if your voting for a first place icon, then a first place icon should win, not if a third place gets a ton of votes, and wins first place.

I have to say this isn't even my community and that comment above got me upset. No where does it say in your voting post that the voting is weighted. I know several mods who don't like the weighted vote. I've just used it in the past for my communities because there weren't even icons and it was easier. I actually get the way the mods do it here. Even voting whoever has the most votes wins works too. Sheesh I didn't know there was a rule to have all icon communities the same. ¬.¬

Anyway can't wait to see the results :)

Lynda and I were upset, too, because surely there are more polite ways of expressing ideas.
As a regular participant at anakin_icontest I am pretty much familiar with weighted votes system :) Still I don't think it has to be the same everywhere :) Anyway, it's the subject to be discussed by mods and participants.
