Oh, not much. Usual. You know.

No, I really don't know.

And you don't have to tell me but I worry that maybe your sister gets the majority of our attention but if you ever want mine you just have to say.

I don't really need a lot of attention. And I think I know better than Amelia does that you guys are always there if I need. Or I understand it better. Or accept it more. I don't know.

I don't know what you want to know... but you must be worried if you're saying that, right?

I'm not worried. I don't worry, your dad does it enough for both of us. And your sister does it enough for a small country. If anything I'm confused.

What are you confused about?

Why does everything that's good for us taste bad and everything that's bad for us taste good?

I'm confused that I found out you were dating Lindy, and not dating Ginny, when her father called to tell me you're taking her to Canada. Lindy's father, not Ginny's, that would be weird. Though probably not unlikely.

I'm pretty sure that question proves the existence of God.

Oh. Well it happened kind of suddenly, and I wasn't really sure I'd call it dating-dating, so. I hadn't sent out the memo yet.

Cute. What do you call it?

I don't know. I was dating-dating Ginny, and I thought I'd always date-date Ginny. Until I married-married Ginny. But now I'm not, and it seems kind of callous to suddenly be dating-dating Lindy. But at the same time, it's not really fair to Lindy to not date-date out of respect for my ex-girlfriend.

I'm going to become a nun.

Do you know how many people your father and I date-dated before we decided to have a family together? In our thirties? He might've been 28. But you're 18! (You're still 18, right? I feel like it's soon.) What's fair to you? Are you happy with-with Lindy?

I try not to, actually. (Yes, I'm still 18.)

When I don't have to worry about everyone I'm making unhappy? Yeah.

You don't have to worry about everyone you're making unhappy. Because you're not making them anything. If they're unhappy it's on them. Okay?

I know that. But knowing it and practicing it aren't the same thing.

I get that. So when you find yourself worrying about it you call your mom and I'll tell you if it's reasonable and what you can do to combat it because that's what moms are for.

Okay. That sounds like a fair deal. Thanks, Mom.
