Update: New stuff about Obi Wan Kenobi + Padme Amidala

Obi Wan: Padme, look! The mod finally made an update!
Padme: Oh my stars … I can’t believe it!

Sorry, I couldn’t help myself. 😂☺️
In all seriousness, though, I am sorry for not being able to update this community sooner. It’s hard to keep a community alive when there’s a lot going on in your life and when there isn’t much to update on to begin with. Thankfully, though, things are improving in my life and on top of that SW Prequel fans are getting new content featuring these beloved characters, so I will definitely try to update obiwan_padme more often. Thanks for being so patient and for sticking with me. 😊

Anyway, now that I got that out of the way … here’s some exciting Star Wars news! 😀

So after much begging from SW fans, Disney finally confirmed in 2019 that the rumors of a new Obi Wan Kenobi centered story were actually true. It was originally supposed to be a standalone movie (much like Rogue One), but then Disney decided to do a limited series instead. Filming officially began in April of this year and as of today production has finally wrapped up.

Star Wars: Obi Wan Kenobi begins ten years after the events of Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith and will be directed by Deborah Chow (The Mandalorian). Both Ewan McGregor and Hayden Christensen will return to reprise their roles alongside a new cast of characters. As of right now there is still no official release date for the tv series, but we can expect it to air on Disney+ either in 2022 or 2023.

As for Natalie Portman as Padme Amidala - she probably won’t be included in the new Obi Wan Kenobi series (for obvious reasons 😢💔) but I’m still hoping that Disney will surprise us all by having her appear in new flashback scenes or perhaps as an illusion of some kind. Hey, it’s Star Wars! Anything is possible imo. 😉 In the meantime, though, there is a new book series that focuses on Padme Amidala that looks promising.

The Padme Trilogy is written by E. K. Johnston and begins with Queen’s Shadow (hardcover and paperback editions side by side), then continues in Queen’s Peril and Queen’s Hope. The books are written from Padme’s perspective and take place during the prequel films and The Clone Wars series.

The first two novels in the trilogy are already available on hardcover. Also, there’s a really good interview with the author HERE on the Star Wars official website. Queen’s Peril will be released in paperback on September 8th and Queen’s Hope (third and final book in the trilogy) will be published on November 2nd, 2021.

Side-note: Reviews for these books have been very mixed. Some people love them, some people hate them. I haven’t read them yet, but I’m a sucker for all things Padme Amidala, so they are on my list of must-have books for the future. :)

Well, that’s all for now. Until next time. ♥️
