Catching up late - I'm intrigued and I wonder if Faith, as an outsider, could see the situation more clearly.

Yes, I think she definitely sees things more clearly. Wesley is still holding on to the notion that they are doing good at Wolfram and Hart, but the truth is they are already being devoured inside the belly of the beast by the time Fred passes away.
