Tonight I had dinner with a tattoo artist, a guy that programs smart bombs, and a few teachers. It's that time of year again, and it couldn't have come at a better time. I missed Robotics season. I've never felt like I had more of a purpose then when I'm helping out there.
There's just something about hanging around high school kids again that puts life in perspective. All their drama, problems, and just general way of life are not too far off from anything I've encountered recently. No one ever really leaves high school despite what they may think. The same clicks and social groups still abound. The same "this is the end of my life" stuff is all still there. Its a bit like playing house in reverse.
The box may have a shiny new ribbon or two, perhaps even a different color bow. But that doesnt keep it from being the same old box. And the new changes will only matter until someone decides to open it. Funny thing is, the box was just as good without the wrapping.
But I guess it's important to stick to ones choices. I've made a few of my own recently, and they seem to be working out so far.
It's great to be back with the team.
