ofernan: u know, i was just thinking that it is probably
counter-productive to just try to compose at the
computer. it would probably help to plan the arrangement
ahead of time.........
ofernan: good tracks usually have a certain structure
ofernan: kind of like coding something without planning
ofernan: i find it very similar
Teknique834: i was thinking of that a few nights ago...
some people can hear the composition in their head, and
write it first, then put it into effect, others are better
working ad-lib
ofernan: difference between a hack and properly layed
out code/music
Teknique834: i mean i'm sure composers don't sit there
with an orchestra trying to get something right, they figure
it out first
Teknique834: can you imagine writing a concerto without
ever hearing it ? :-)
ofernan: well ... that fits the analogy. the better you get at
programming (meaning years of experience) then you can
get away with just jumping into coding because you know
the patterns intrinsically
Teknique834: right
