I couldn't help myself. I found this comm today and the new prompt was just right in line with an idea put to me earlier in the week...

Firewhiskey is a wondrous thing.
Once it dulled the pain, now it gives me what I’ve always longed for but could never have.
It darkens shades of red from brassy ginger to deep rich scarlet.
It fades freckle marked skin to a perfect peaches and cream complexion.
It shields me from accusing stares that have always known too much.
It keeps me in place when a too young, burgeoning body presses into the hardness that is always meant for another.
And best of all it steals my tears in the night, when I find the wrong face shattering beneath me.
