Yesterday, I almost called in to work because the right side of my jaw felt like someone nailed it with a baseball, or maybe just a bunch of nails. The area below my ear was sore to the touch. My ear felt like I had Swimmer's Ear (/mourn the closed pool). My jaw itself felt like a hand wearing a spiked gloved was clenching it in a fist. If only I could pop it to relieve the pressure. No such luck. I was miserable.
After work I took the blue liquid/goo/gel thing we have in the freezer to keep lunchbags, etc. cold and slapped it on my face. Man what a difference! Despite 20 minutes when I got home and another 20 minutes after the Bubbas were in bed, I still feel like I need to pop my jaw back into position. But the pain is nowhere as great. Where on a scale of 1 to 10 it was a 5, it's now a 1. Now it only hurts when I chew.
Which raises a question: anyone have suggestions for satisfying foods/meals that require minimal to no chewing? I know of soup, pudding, canned fruit (fruit cocktail, Mandarin oranges, etc.), and scrambled eggs. I did manage to have half an Albacore tuna sandwich with apple chunks and provolone on flat bread last night, but the thick bread probably didn't help things much. But damn was it tasty!
