For some reason lately I've been talking/thinking excessively (but mostly just thinking, I'm not such a big fan of political banter) about politics and all the problems with the government, it's pretty depressing. also, only slightly less known is that moving in with high school kid's grandparents is the new improving your living situation.

and ive been thinking about the two party thing, and i stick by story... more parties wouldnt do us any good because people are pretty much gonna go hardcore conservative (as seen in the last election) or they're going to be somewhat liberal. there's not going to be more than one hardcore conservative group, but there will be plenty of different less conservative or liberal groups. this just means that stupidly conservative would win everytime.

but really, this doesnt help anything, because even if you did away with all parties and only had people that were elected because of their opinions, you would still have the exact scenario as the multiple party system in that there would be several middle to liberal candidates splitting the non-conservative vote.

all this to say, it seems that breaking it down into 2 groups for us is about the best they can do. using the primaries to determine how far liberal or conservative you want your party to be, makes these 2 parties extremely malleable in that you can be as far away from or as close to the middle as you want at the current time.
