Second poll
This one not really leading to anything:
During a conversation this weekend the subject came up of the fallacy that WASP males are normal, the default, that gender and ethnicity are traits of those who differ from the norm.
So, my question: if we agree that this is a fallacy, how can it be reconciled with the notion, popular in many of the same corners, that ethnic minorities have life experiences that WASPS cannot fully understand, but WASPS do not have any life experiences that members of ethnic minorities cannot understand, or the equivalent notion for men and women? (With the exception in the latter case of things directly involving male physiology.)
