Summer?

Have any of you ever stayed in Oberlin during the summer? Is it fun? Will I go crazy?
Is it easy to find a place to live? How do I go about that?

To reiterate:
1. It's beautiful. Smack-dag gorgeous here. I wish we had school then, not in the winter.

2. You need a community. I found the happiest folks were people who lived with lots of friends who had lots of parties. Normal Oberlin communities break down-- it's all about chilling with friends. And making new friends.

3. Jobs... the easiest ones to get are with Res-Ed doing Conference Services. Some of my friends really disliked in; some thought it was okay. Working for Grounds is hard physically, but more fun. I LOVED working for admissions. LOVED IT. It's not for everyone (you need to be perky and Oberlin-tastic), but interviewing prospies as a job is like being paid to sample different ice cream flavors.

The best ones are often doing research for/with professors. Or working for the BCSL. They often have a few summer staff positions. WAVE was also a good job for a few friends, doing tutoring for local kids.

If you've got some computer skills, y'can work for Communications, which is my home/love/family.

4. A rule I learned: Everyone fears being too annoying over summer. Be annoying! Call to hang out! Plan adventures!

5. Bring a car, if you can. Cleveland is actually kickass. I never knew until the summer.

Best,
Aries
