Alright! So I'm glad I found this community, because "squee relief" was difficult when everyone kept going "John Hannah wha...?" And then I type him in and this lovely piece of work comes up, and despite living in Middle of Nowhere, California, I know and love nearly every OBA I've seen mentioned. (That's Rik Mayall on my icon. I forgot to look for him, actually.)
So, since squee relief is part of the purpose, here's my story.
I was watching Alias. Don't ask me why, I just was. And it was pretty boring. Till I got to an episode that said "John Hannah" in the credits, and I remembered him from years ago in "The Mummy" and now all of a sudden instead of the comic relief he's a possibly psychotic probable-murderer who has memory loss, nightmares, and can only see in black and white. Also he had this great just-got-out-of-an-asylum look, you know, scruffy, stubbly, probably in need of a bath. Hands down, the best thing about Alias so far. And there was some lovely chemistry and all, which got totally ignored.
Grr.
I thought, No way can they just let a character like this waltz off into the sunset. They've got to bring him back, right? Wrong. Those two episodes were all we were destined to see of Shepard the Endearing Psychotic Murderer. From my ire at this fact rose a fanfic which means nothing to anybody because, as I said, people keep going "John Hannah wha...?" Which brings me round again to my point: I'm glad to find this comm. Thank y'all. Thank you very much.
