Another round of the Casting Game.
Must state whether it's traditional or modern dress.
Also whether it's all-male.
And a space (eg. Globe, Donmar (seats 200), NT Olivier (seats 1000), Hyde Park..)
Okay to suggest actors for parts they've already played.
Rambling / squee / pics = all the better.
Don't have to post full cast, but better if you do.
Poster chooses winner.
Winner chooses next play.
I nominate: MACBETH.
Character List.
GO!
Last Round: Richard III
I'd just like to repost my piccies, because I CAN (ahaha), and because it was fun before. And I want to jettison Rupes P-J and replace him with Crispin Bonham-Carter, who fits better and looks more like the other two, so would scan more convincingly as a brother.
THE DELICIOUS BADDIES
Richard (Sam West) - The antihero. Machiavellian politician: icy, imperious, twisted. Ooh, how deliciously eeevil.
Buckingham (Jeremy Northam) - Richard's nasty sidekick.
Tyrrell (Dominic Rowan) - Richard hires him to kill his cousins, the two princes.
THE NOBLE GOODIES
King Edward IV (Mark Strong) - Richard and Clarence's big brother. Selectively shrewd politician who hopes to reconcile his fractured kingdom. Blind to Richard's evildoings.
Clarence (Crispin Bonham-Carter) - Richard's lovely, murdered, brother.
Richmond (Simon Russell Beale) - All-round good egg, Richard's opposite and nemesis. Wins in the end.
Stanley (David Warner) - Richmond's stepdad, helps him on the quiet.
Hastings (Mark Rylance) - An honest and loyal, and murdered, lord.
Lord Mayor of London (Rob Brydon) - Gullible chap, manipulated by Richard and Buckingham in their schemes.
SHAKESPEARE SAY: EURGH, GIIIIRLS, PUT THEM AT THE END
Queen Elizabeth (Janet McTeer) - King Edward IV's wife, mother of two dead princes and their sister Elizabeth. Strongwilled, sharp-minded, opposes Richard. They hate each other.
Anne (Claire Price) - Widow of murdered Prince Edward. Hates Richard, but nasty Richard gets her to marry him.
Duchess of York (Prunella Scales!) - Richard, Clarence and King Edward IV's mum. Grandmother to Elizabeth's children, is on their side, and eventually denounces Richard.
Margaret (Lesley Staples) - Widow of king preceding Edward IV. Bitter lady, hates everyone, Richard AND his enemies, as all complicit in destroying the Lancasters.
Young Elizabeth (Carey Mulligan) - Ex-Queen Elizabeth's daughter. At the end, is promised in marriage to Richmond, to unite the houses of York and Lancaster.
THE REST (I dunno..)
The princes.
Dorset, Rivers, and Gray.
Ratcliffe, Catesby.
Vaughan.
