(UK) BBC Two: OBA Alert

Sep 19, 2006 11:38

*waves* I was pointed this way by
whitelilacs07 last week, having fallen head-over-heels for Cambridge Spies. If I may, I'll very much be a resident of Team West's dormitories, with the occasional sneaking over to peak in at St. Tom's windows. *g*

Anyway, considering I rarely watch TV, (UK) BBC Two looks promising for an interesting evening of non-Cambridge Spies OBAs.

19.00 (1hr) Who Do You Think You Are?
Actor Robert Lindsay researches his family tree, traveling to Gallipoli to investigate a legend about his grandfathers' heorics in WWI.

21.00 (1hr) Stephen Fry: The Secret Life Of The Manic Depressive
(1of 2 programmes, concluded next wk) Stephen Fry describes the impact that manic depression has had on his life since his diagnosis. He also talks to other celebrity sufferers in an attempt to uncover information about the condition.

I happened to catch the Stephen Fry and Jeremy Clarkson episodes of Who Do You Think You Are? some months ago, which I thought were really well done, so definitely looking forward to Robert Lindsay. And whilst I know Stephen Fry isn't all that obscure in the UK, he is an acquired taste, so this has to be an opportunity to learn more about the fine line between genius and insanity. Another favourite OBA of mine, Jeremy Brett, (as well as some of my own ancestors) also suffered from bi-polar disorder so I'll confess I am sympathetic, and strangely fascinated there.
