Jan. 23, 2009: The President meets with Congressional Democratic leaders in the Oval Office.




Jan. 27, 2009: President Obama leaves the White House with his legislative affairs director Phil Shiliro en route to the U.S. Capitol to meet with the Republican caucuses.



Jan 27, 2009: On Capitol Hill, the President listens to a question from a member of the House Republican caucus. After the meeting, he gave some brief remarks.



Jan. 27, 2009: House Republicans surround the President after the meeting. Many of them were seeking his autograph. Every House Republican eventually voted against the bill.



Feb. 1, 2009: In the White House family theater, the President serves cookies to his guests during the Super Bowl. Many of the guests were Congressmen and Senators, and their families.



Feb. 4, 2009: From his private study, the President pays courtesy calls to governors hit hard by the economic crisis.



Feb. 4, 2009: The President welcomes Sen. Kent Conrad (D-ND) to the Oval Office.



Feb 4, 2009: Sen. Susan Collins (R-ME) meets with the President in the Oval Office. Collins was one of three Republican Senators who eventually voted for the stimulus bill.



Feb. 9, 2009: Aboard Air Force One, the President talks with member of the Indiana Congressional Delegation en route to Elkhart, IN, for a town hall meeting to discuss the economic recovery package.



Feb. 11, 2009: As Chief of Staff Rahm Emanuel talks on his cell phone, the President closes his eyes just as Congress reaches a compromise between the Senate and House versions of the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act.
