Over at Politico, Ben Smith has an article suggesting tension between the Palinistas and McCainiacs. I'll leave aside Smith's, um, generous description of Palin's debate performance as "adequate", and his, um, intriguing reference to Joe Biden as " ( Read more... )

That depends on what you mean by "stomachable."
Honestly I find Huckabee more appealing, he's more genuine and doesn't hide his beliefs, there are any political layers to be removed. Huckabee would also be more willing to support social programs and "spreading the wealth." Romney would just be another politician in the pockets of some big $$$.

There shouldn't be a competition between Huckabee and Palin, they are different creatures. Palin from what I can tell is a rotten person, Huckabee isn't -we just don't agree with his platform.

None the less, Huckabee's strong social conservatism and religious beliefs make him a poor choice for President. I would trust him in that position so long as we had a Democratically controlled congress, but I'd rather not take chances on him.

To the O.P. Yes, I'd love to see Romney go after Palin. It's a dog-eat-dog-world and the women is delusional if she thinks that she has a chance, I'm convinced that McCain would have won if he would have had more faith in the moderates and centrists and picked a qualified and moderate VP, instead he picked Palin, pandered to the radical right and deserves to loose big.

Geniune? I think for me what defined my idea of Huckabee is when he didn't air a smear ad, showed it to the press to show how he was such a good person that he thought it was too negative, and then played innocent when it got aired on tv (yeah, right...). To me it showed how insincere he really was and that you could not trust his claims on things.

That and I really object to his idea that there should be more religion in politics (he has outright said he'd like to see religioin influence the constitution more and that it should have morals in there). I very strongly subscribe to the idea that religion and politics should not mix (it's one of my many big objections to Palin to as I feel she's probably the same way. I don't mind my politician being very religious. I mind when they think that their religion should be in law).

I didn't see the ad.
Perhaps it was all show, but he's the only Republican that didn't sound like an angry a-hole at their convention.

As for the words you attribute to Huckabee, I'd have to see them in context. I respect the man for now but I'd be critical of him should he run again since I'm not a Christian.
