Persepolis
I only just found out that they made an animated movie of the two-volume graphic novel series Persepolis. It apparently originally came out in a limited release on Christmas, but is being re-released in a more nationwide theater distribution tomorrow. I absolutely LOVED the novels and I must see the movie this weekend sometime.
If you're unfamiliar with the story, it's a graphic novel that is an autobiography of an Iraqi woman from the time they started becoming very severe with religious beliefs during her childhood (subjugating women into wearing veils, etc) and into her adult life. It's an absolutely fantastic work that I highly recommend.
It starts tomorrow and is playing in the AMC 24 at 5:25, 7:40 and 10:05. Anyone want to see it with me?
