Rec!view: Heartbreaking stuff. This vignette, while short, still manages to capture an ache that’s as deep and raw as it is understated. Sam’s reaction to grief is much more in character than I’ve seen in other fics of this kind, and the sly digs at canon (Dani!) just add an extra zest, like citrus shavings that jab your taste buds but would be unthinkable to miss out of your pastry.
