Rec!view: This drabble is a fascinating unveiling of a ‘hidden battle’ from the conflict that pervaded KHI canon. I’m a sucker for fic involving Maleficent anyway, but the true draw of this ficlet is the bond between two mice who have always struck me as too sugary to stomach, but which appears here as real and satisfying. Tunasaladsonnet is one of those rare authors who can convey a vast amount without needing ten-thousand words or purple prose. Her writing style is pithy and endlessly quotable - the kind that makes me insanely jealous even as I lap it up. This feels like a snippet from a much larger piece, but at the same time it’s a brilliant standalone that pretty much sums up how Disney characters can be true to their origins and also completely badass.

Sora and Riku had said that the Beast had once torn through dimensions through sheer force of will, and he laughed at himself to think she couldn’t.
