Just a little one-shot involving Yami, Joey, and a toaster.
Rec!view: Sometimes it’s nice to read something non-romantic. Lesser Deities is essentially plotless, but it’s plotless with a hint of plot, if that makes any sense. Characterisation is the driving theme, with Yami and Joey (yep, we’re in dub-verse again) forming the central focus. They’re well-played, too. Yami is perhaps a little melodramatic, but not in any overt way, and the portrayal of his bond with Yuugi is subtle but sweet. Plus, Joey isn’t just a dumb jackass. He’s still a dumb jackass, but that’s not all he is - just like in canon. The whole fic is adorable, really, but not in an ootsy-cutesy type of way. Talia Ali obviously had a lot of fun with the concept, and it does raise an interesting point about how easily Yami seems to interact with modern technology.
