(Harry Potter/The Grim Adventures of Billy and Mandy) Harry is about to start his first year at Hogwarts. With him comes his cynical, somewhat unofficial (not to mention bent on world domination) girlfriend; Mandy. And they're also bringing their mutual best friend (i.e.: indentured servant) the Grim Reaper himself.
Review: Ruskbyte has perfected the art of non-OOC cracktastic writing. I was literally wheezing with laughter throughout this fic, and several times I had to pause so I could have a proper laugh. There are so many levels and nuances to this story, it’s difficult to pinpoint which bit I like most. I could say that the sparkling dialogue hits me between the eyes like a chocolate bullet; or I could say that the comic timing rivals the most proficient stand-up routine. I could mention that the sheer insanity of the crossover - Harry Potter, yeah, big whoop, but with Grim Adventures? I could even point out the brilliant characterisation, but as much as each of these is an individual pull, as a whole they’re so, so much better. Even if you roll your eyes at the plethora of Harry Potter ‘Let’s all go to Hogwarts for the new term’ and want to spork out your own eyeballs at the thought of yet another ‘Harry Potter gets a girlfriend’ fanfics, I’d still tell you to read this one.
