Big Damn Heroes

Maybe I'm the one of the few, but I've just enjoyed the hell out of Castle the past couple of months. I mean, it stars Nathan Fillion, who really deserved a good show after Fox stuck him with that turd Drive. He could become our generation's Gene Hackman, who's good in anything.

Despite great performances from Captain Tightpants and his alluring co-star Stana Katic, the show suffered poor ratings. Perhaps because the lead-in was dragging it down. Perhaps because it was up against CSI. Oh how I lothe CSI. Also any show that seems to have been pitched with the premise, "It'll be just like CSI but…"

Castle isn't like that, which is one of the main reasons I like it. The characters use honest detective work to solve murders. No BS high-tech gizmos. No computer mumbo-jumbo. They pin stuff to a bulletin board, interview people, and dig through mountains of files and records just like real detectives do. I also appreciate that the producers keep the lurid corpse scenes and gratuitous T&A to a minimum, especially when I wind up watching it sitting in my parent's living room.

Thus, I had to do something today which I have never, ever done in my entire life: I called up ABC and told them how much I enjoy the show.
