the joy of the words that I've been too afraid to tell you

My Last.fm numbers have been so ridiculously lopsided since April. D: And because I'm seeing Kris motherfucking Allen IN THIRTY-SIX HOURS (!!!!!!!!!!!!!!) (from 4th row center omfg) (adf;akjd;flafjaf;lkjafdljf) I figured it would be in my best interest to go cold turkey - I haven't listened to him in, like, two weeks now. (Which is why, when I ( Read more... )

I'm not making this all fancy acuz I suck and I'm lazy.

HERE HAVE SOME MUSIC FROM MY CANADIAN BBS

http://www.sendspace.com/file/47eulr - "Tug of War", Carly Rae Jepsen
Canadian Idol, season 5, placed third. She surprised me by putting out a really sweet album and then touring with some pretty big-name Canadian bands. Plus she's totally adorable. This song's just... too catchy for words.

http://www.sendspace.com/file/enpnjt - "The Sweater Song", Hedley
The lead singer, Jacob, was Canadian Idol season 2, placed third. He's the most successful person to ever come out of CI, because his band, Hedley, has three albums under their belt and is wicked successful in Canada. Jacob... is kind of a bastard, anyway. He's a manwhore and crass and crazy and lewd and doesn't care about anything. But at the same time, he can write melodies like no one's business and just knows how to put words together that makes my soul ache. He's kind of this tragic waste of potential or something... except every once in awhile his talent shines through and I'm like, shit. And now I've rambled and I sound like an idiot. I have a weird love/hate relationship with this band.

Okay, I'm cheating and putting two Hedley songs here. Because Hedley kind of does two things - slow, lilting, surprisingly beautiful stuff like the previous song, and then more upbeat, pop-punk stuff like this one. And yet... lyrics, man. I don't know. He's good with those. There's a line in this one that I kind of based my entire screenplay around, actually.

http://www.sendspace.com/file/tyt23e - "Nowhere With You", Joel Plaskett
Could it be?! Yes! Someone who *wasn't* on Canadian Idol! Joel Plaskett basically plays what we call "east coast music" - all east coast music sort of sounds like this. I don't know. I'm not a fan of most of it, but this song is so boppy and fun that I can't help but love it. And hey, it's definitely Canadian.

http://www.sendspace.com/file/1znj6n - "Hurray", Kalan Porter
Kalan Porter is... possibly the celebrity figure that I love most in the world. He's the equivalent of what Kris would be, had I stanned Kris for five years. I don't know. He was the winner of Canadian Idol season 2, and he was this blond, curly-haired eighteen year old that everyone thought looked like a girl... and then he opened his mouth and had this voice. He's this farm kid from Alberta who sings and plays the violin, and he's got so much talent it's not even funny. He's sweet and sincere and snarky all at the same time, and I can't believe how long it took me to realize that Kris reminds me of him. Anyway. I'm blabbing. But. The violin solo in this song is Kalan playing, too.

http://www.sendspace.com/file/ybyduj - "I'll Be Waiting", Mookie Morris
Canadian Idol, season 6, placed fifth. He's this skinny awkward nineteen-year-old singer and guitar player who somehow has this music sensability from the 1970s. He's really different from what I normally listen to, but I just... idk, I adore the guy. We're still waiting for good quality recordings to come out from him (waiting a year and a half for his album -_-) but this is a good live recording from one of his shows.

http://www.sendspace.com/file/8yhywg - "Loch Lomond"
Including this is kind of... idek. But. It's a Scottish folk song that you might know, and this is a fifteen-person choir singing it. My fifteen-person choir, actually, from my senior year of high school. It's one of my favourite things in the world and I have no idea if you like choral music, but I just wanted to share it. <3
