KRISTOPHER. NEIL. ALLEN. FTMFW!!!!!!!

HOLY SHIT, SON. I know everybody in the universe is talking about the vocal stylings of one Mr. Adam Lambert, and I know he's incredible. He's freaking amazing. Like Kara said - how can he hit those notes and still be able to talk?!

BUT OH, MAN. KRIS ALLEN. Just. This is my all-time favorite AI performance EVER. Yes, I love it slightly more than "Always Be My Baby" or "Billie Jean" by David Cook. I love it more than Kris's "Falling Slowly" (and my Last.fm will show you just how much I love that). Definitely the best of the season. IT IS AMAZING AND GLORIOUS AND NNNNNNNNNGGGGHHHHHHHHH POCKET IDOL!!!!! When you said "It's a surprise", you really meant it, didn't you?

I almost don't care if he makes it to the Finale. I'm so, so, so happy he gave us this. What a magical, magical, perfect performance. ♥ WAIT WAIT WAIT OH GOD I TAKE THAT BACK. He has to make it to the Finale. He deserves it so so so much. I HOPE YOU DID THE RIGHT THING, AMERICA. FOURTEEN POINT FIVE HOURS UNTIL WE FIND OUT.

Rickey.org has this track embedded at the very top of his page, labeled with the simple label "Artistry!". Yes. YES. For all the times Kara threw that word around this year, this performance is the most worthy.

Shit. I'm going to listen to this forever. Acoustic!Kris is my favorite kind of Kris, and I'm so so so glad he got rid of Bandzilla and just stood there with his microphone and his guitar and his beautiful soul. Yes. YES. I can't wait to watch this ten thousand more times tonight. I CANNOT WAIT FOR THE STUDIO VERSION.

PS. Can I just say how much I love my flist right now? I stayed away from the internet the whole day, waited until after I saw the show here, and I was SO HAPPY to go through my friends page and see no less than ten post-episode reactions from you guys. I'M SO GLAD TO HAVE PEOPLE TO TALK TO ABOUT THE SHEER AMAZINGNESS THAT IS KRIS ALLEN. I LOVE YOU ALL! *group hug*

ETA 8:41 PM I'm reading through the great TWoP posts, and I just have to put these in here:

Heatherbomb: I hate the "any guy in a coffee shop" analogy. I work in an establishment with local live music every night and if Kris showed up in there the world would stop. His voice is FAB! It's clear, pure and silky and a joy to listen to.

My Iron Lung: This. That "coffee shop guy" critique bugs to no end, for all the reasons julieitis mentioned; his innovations are so subtle sometimes (like the way he sang "Come Together") that most people might not catch it. His voice is gorgeous and buttery and goes straight to the heart. I could only hope someone with a fraction of the talent Kris possesses walked into my local coffee shop one day.

ESPECIALLY THIS:

melvel: It bugs me too because you know what? The same thing applies to Adam and to Danny. Go see some musical theater, and there ARE a lot of talented singers there who have Adam’s vocal prowess. Go listen to some gospel choirs, and there are a lot of singers like Danny. I don’t think that critique holds any water, because you’ll find similar singers all over America for each of the three contestants.

BECAUSE YES, EXACTLY. I know everybody's flailing all over Adam, but really, I follow musical theater (LOL what an understatement) and Adam Lambert is nowhere near the god everybody thinks he is. He's amazing, and he's a terrific performer, but I can easily name 10 others who have better voices than him. And that's just off the top of my head. Give me an extra minute and I can give you 20 more.

I'm not bashing Adam - I love that guy - but really. The tongue baths and over-the-top praise Adam gets every week just get to me... especially when Kris doesn't get anywhere near the praise that he deserves. So maybe I am a little bitter, maybe I'm being a little too overprotective of Pocket Idol, but whatever. This is my LJ, I can say whatever I want.

Bottom line: KRIS ALLEN FTW!!!!!

lj: omgyay, people: kris allen, tv: american idol
