you smell so good in the rain.

i'll get some things out of the way before i get to the main points of this post.

first of all, OMG BONES!
OMG OMG OMG OMG. YOU GUYS. this is seriously the BEST show that you are not watching. i just. i don't understand why you can't all FLAIL WITH ME. my download finished at 3 in the morning yesterday, and i proceeded to go crazy over it, and watched it TWICE. the fact that i managed to fall asleep before 5 was a miracle, this was an episode so full of flail. and this show, gah. it's the absolute NUMBER ONE in my heart, because (a) Friday Night Lights won't be coming back til December haha; and (b) BOOTH BONES SWEETS ANGELA HODGINS ZACK CAM. so amazing. i hate not having anyone to flail over this with me. and i absolutely haaaaaaaaaaate that it's already the season finale next week. what will i do on Tuesday nights without Bones? :(

second of all, OMG Dan and Serena PENN BADGLEY AND BLAKE LIVELY! i've been speculating over this since way before the Writers' Strike and now there's proof! SO SO SO CUTE OMG.

third, YAY Avenue Q (The Farewell Run) on June 14! :) Michi and i managed to buy tickets to their last first matinee and i am so excited. 31 DAYS! we are so going to have a wonderful time and i cannot wait. :D (Cinderella next, and then OMG HAIRSPRAY in December!)

fourth, OMG GOSSIP GIRL! i love the non-judging Breakfast Club. so cute. ♥ Dan is stupid, but i can't even bring myself to care. BECAUSE OMG:
come back to me
you smile and you make my life complete
every time you walk away or run away
you take a piece of me with you there
WHAT WHAT WHAT. HOLY SHIT, I TOTALLY FLAILED AND SPAZZED AND FANGIRLED TO MY UTMOST ABILITIES. HOLY SHIIIIIIIIIT AND THE SCENE AFTER THAT, WTF WTF WTF. Get out of my way. No. TOTALLY MADE MY DAY. sigh. my life is now complete. :D

**

"Don't you see? That's what proves me right. I care the most, because if I can do it," he shook his head, seeming to struggle with the thought, "if leaving is the right thing to do, then I'll hurt myself to keep from hurting you, to keep you safe."

I glared. "And you don't think I would do the same?"

"You'd never have to make the choice."

so i spent most of Tuesday afternoon rereading Twilight, only stopping for dinner, the occasional bathroom break, and not much else. it's... really not a great book. it may not even be a good book, with the standards i've built with all the absolutely breathtaking books i've read so far. i mean, the whole James plot seemed almost forced and was so rushed... it's a million, billion miles away from the incredible novels that have changed the face of literature. having said all that... well, i love it anyway. :P it really just all comes down to Edward. all his lines that are cheesy and lovely and romantic all at once, he makes all the badness completely worth it.

bottom line: YAY, EDWARD! also: YAY, MOVIE! so excited. :D

and lastly, because i had some time to waste between last night and our 31.1 finals on Saturday afternoon... MEME TIME!

stolen from ellixian, who did this forever ago.

A-Z music meme

Always Be My Baby - David Cook
i'm part of you indefinitely
don't you know you can't escape me
[ download ]
I'm going to begin this meme being completely predictable, and reccing David Cook. I can pinpoint the exact moment I fell in love with him when he was performing this -- the moment in my icon, where he's all emo, leaning up on the mic stand, looking down. Hearts! I've listened to it an embarrassing number of times, and I haven't gotten tired of it yet. I love it for so many reasons -- his voice of course, all gorgeous and emotional, and the fact that he did this really brave cover of an incredibly popular girly song. So much love. Marry me, please.

The Book of Love - Peter Gabriel
the book of love is long and boring
no one can lift the damn thing
it's full of charts and facts and figures
and instructions for dancing
[ download ]
I first heard this song on Shall We Dance, and fell completely in love with it. I've been obsessed with it since 3rd year high school. It's an unconventional love song, written very well and sang so beautifully. I love Peter Gabriel's voice. I think this version is absolutely beautiful, it's my favorite out of all the covers that I've heard.

Comfortable - John Mayer
i loved you, grey sweatpants
no make-up, so perfect
[ download ]
I've loved John Mayer since we first "met" in 2002, have played all his CDs (haha, so old school) until they were scratched beyond recognition, and though he's being all trashy rock star lately, I think I will always love him. This one is my absolute, absolute favorite song of his. It's made me cry quite a few times. It's so emotional, I always feel like I'm looking in on an incredibly private moment when I listen to it.

Desire - Ryan Adams
God I'm praying that you'll find me
and that you'll see me, that you run and never tire
[ download ]
This song bookended a very emo House episode -- I can't remember which one it was, but I remember falling in love with it almost immediately. It's another very emotional song, and Ryan Adams totally does it justice.

Eeeyore's Lullaby - Tyler Collins
we'll caress and keep you blessed
never alone for the whole night through
[ download ]
I have absolutely no recollection of where I first got this song, but I've loved it for a really long time. I think it's beautiful, and her voice is so soothing and motherly. Perfect for falling asleep to.

Everything - Lifehouse
you calm the storms, and you give me rest
you hold me in your hands, you won't let me fall
[ download ]
Yes, that's two songs for "E". Yes, that's cheating. No, I don't care. :P I had a few letters that I couldn't use, so I decided to double the ones I absolutely could not decide on. Anyway. This is my absolute favorite song in the entire universe. I've listened to it hundreds of times, even sang it on stage live (shudder), and it always makes me cry. It's so damn beautiful and universal and intense. I'm so protective over it, and I got pretty mad when it was included in the Smallville soundtrack and suddenly became mainstream. Ugh. If I ever do see Lifehouse when they come to Manila, and if they sing this song, my life will be complete.

Fields of Gold - Eva Cassidy
will you stay with me, will you be my love
among the fields of barley
[ download ]
Such a gorgeous song, and Eva Cassidy can sing the phone book and it will still be beautiful. This is my favorite cover ever. I got tears in my eyes the first time that Michi (obliviate) made me listen to it, and been listening to it over and over since she shared all her Eva Cassidy albums with me.

Goodbye Until Tomorrow/I Could Never Rescue You - The Last 5 Years
all you can say, all you can feel
was wrapped up inside that one perfect kiss
leave it at that:
I'll watch you turn the corner and go
[ download ]
It's no secret that I'm completely in love with The Last 5 Years -- for an show that never made it to Broadway and officially closed way back in 2002, it's still incredibly popular. If I were stuck on a desert island and could only have like 5 albums, this would be one of them no matter how depressing it is. I had so much trouble choosing just one song from it, but I knew I had to put this one in here. It's the version with Norbert and Sherie (not JRB with Laura or Julia) because HELLO, NORBERT AND SHERIE. Neither of them can do any wrong. Anyway, the song pretty much expresses the whole point of the show, and can I just say that Jason Robert Brown is so SICK for being able to compose and arrange it, to juxtapose the two sets of emotions, so bipolar and heartbreaking. Nobody should be able to write a song where the girl is saying goodbye after their first kiss and the guy is leaving their marriage. The orchestration is gorgeous as well, and their voices. I die.

He Still Loves Me - The Fighting Temptations
if you ain't worthy just raise your hands
and let me know that you understand
that we are all so blessed to be loved
[ download ]
I knew I had to put at least one Christian song in here because I have so many of them and love them all. I put this one because it's one of my absolute favorites of all time, and because I had a pretty limited "H" song list. :P This is the one from The Fighting Temptations movie, and I remember crying like a big baby when they sang it. It's my favorite song to make me happy when I'm down, because how can you do any better than Him?

I Know Him So Well - Julia Murney and Sutton Foster
didn't I know how it would go?
if I knew from the start
why am I falling apart?
[ download ]
So I'm hitting two birds with one stone here -- Julia and Sutton, all in one song! I'm so in love with their version of it, their voices blend so well and they both kick ass in their respective solos. It's such a sad song, so real, both of them completely understanding and misunderstanding at the same time. I could listen to this track all day, drown myself in their voices, though the one I truly prefer is the rehearsal version, if only because it's so much clearer. I love Sutton's crinkly face when she smiles in 2:01, and them in their street clothes.

I'll Cover You - RENT
I've longed to discover something as true as this is
so with a thousand sweet kisses
(if you're cold and you're lonely) I'll cover you
[ download ]
Cheating agian, I know. Still don't care. :P I've heard this called "Jonathan Larson's most perfect song". I can't really say for sure, I love almost all of the songs of his that I've heard, but this one is definitely way up there. It's so happy and loving and optimistic, and of course Jesse and Wilson kick so much butt in this one. My absolute favorite version is the one from the 10th anniversary concert, with Jesse's ever-hilarious "OH SHIT!" right in the middle. HA. I love them.

Just My Imagination - Babyface and Gwyneth Paltrow
I can visualize it all baby
it couldn't be a dream
'cause too real it all seems
[ download ]
Yes, I have a very limited "J" song list, and I am a huge music dork with pretty horrible taste. :P I knew I had to have one in here that shows how old school I can be, and here it is. I used to love Magic 89.9 and Sunday nights -- they'd play songs from my angsty Grade 6 and Grade 7 days, and I'd get all nostalgic. This is one of those. I just recently heard this while I was in a taxi, and I totally sang to the whole thing. I remember thinking it was absolute genius when I first heard it, LOL. So cheesy and bordering on lame but I still like listening to it.

Learn To Be Lonely - Minnie Driver
never dreamed out in the world
there are arms to hold you
you’ve always known your heart was on its own
[ download ]
Hello, most depressing song ever. I like listening to this when I want to make myself feel bad. :P When I'm feeling especially masochistic, I put it on repeat. Ha. It's so weird and I guess it fits that it was put in the Phantom movie soundtrack.

My Junk - Spring Awakening
I lie back just drifting and play out these scenes
I ride on the rush, all the hopes, all the dreams
[ download ]
I love just 3 or 4 songs from the musical, and this one is my guilty pleasure. It's pop-ish and fun and cute, nothing really mindblowing or unique about it. I wanted to put Touch Me instead because I like it a lot more, but I already had too many choices for "T", and I really just want to share this track with the world because JONATHAN GROFF sings right in your ear at the last chorus part. ♥ (Also: Matt Doyle!) The bootleg was recorded right on stage beside Groff's seat. When this track comes on my playlist, I just skip ahead to that part. I love his voice.

Never Knew - Stephen Speaks
for now I've got to say goodbye again
and go back into my life without you
you know, it never dawned on me what I was missing
until I had a glimpse of what I never knew
[ download ]
Stephen Speaks! They were the first and only band I'd actually bought concert tickets for, way back in 2003, in 1st year high school when they became so popular in the Philippines. This is my second-favorite song of theirs, right after All These Things. I never thought I would like a song about a boy and his dad, but I guess there is much to be said about well-written stuff.

Over My Head - The Fray
and suddenly I become a part of your past
I'm becoming the part that don't last
I'm losing you and its effortless
[ download ]
My first The Fray song! I remember hanging out with HK (cynicade) one afternoon, and having her sing this song to me. I downloaded the whole album as soon as I could go online, and went crazy over it. Nothing really came close to my love for this song after the band suddenly became cool and mainstream.

Perfect - Julia Murney
we've mastered the art of breaking apart
and falling so fast
in a perfect world you wouldn't have left me
feeling left out, abandoned, and small
[ download ]
I had to refrain from putting all the lyrics up there. I am so in love with this song, even if it's as depressing as it could possibly get. Julia just kicks so much ass on it, she always gets so emotional which gets me all emotional, and tears for everyone, yay! Jeez. This one is from her Birdland concert in '06, with her voice breaking and obviously being in tears but still kicking so much ass like always.

Prayer of St. Francis - Sarah McLachlan
Lord make me an instrument of your peace,
where there is hatred let me sow love
[ download ]
I first heard this on Buffy and gah, Sarah McLachlan break my heart please. Another one who can really do no wrong, such a gorgeous voice singing a beautiful song. It's the Christian prayer I know best, and though I could do without the chorus parts in this track, I still love it.

Run - Snow Patrol
to think I might not see those eyes
makes it so hard not to cry
and as we say our long goodbye I nearly do
[ download ]
This is probably their most popular song, but I don't even care. It is hands down my favorite of theirs, and what else can I say about it? It's almost depressing, but optimistic at the same time.

A Slow Dance - Explosions in the Sky
[ download ]
It pained me to choose just one of their songs, but I knew this had to be it. This band needs no lyrics to be able to make you cry or feel all the emotions they want you to feel. I am so thankful to the producers of Friday Night Lights for using their music so often, because hardly any pop or rock songs can really do the show justice.

Tulog Na - Sugarfree
tulog na, mahal ko
at baka bukas ngingiti ka sa wakas
at sabay nating harapin ang mundo
[ download ]
This list will not be complete without an OPM song. I knew it had to be one of my most favorite bands, and this one is their most gorgeous and romantic and emotional songs. I always feel so cheesy when I listen to it. I haven't heard them sing this live, and I'm kind of glad I haven't because I might die if Ebe freaking Dancel would be standing right in front of me singing this damn song. I'd make a fool out of myself for sure, crying and fangirling like the insane person that I am.

Undiscovered - James Morrison
so close your eyes and feel the way
I'm with you now, believe there's nothing wrong
[ download ]
I am forever indebted to Jaw (imjaw) for gushing so much over James Morrison, and making me listen to his album. Hello, complete awesomeness. I can't stop listening to it. He sings all his songs so emotionally, so raw, and I love it.

Where Do I Begin - Idina Menzel
starting with the things I haven’t said enough of
starting with the day you changed my life
and ending with the way I feel tonight
[ download ]
It's so hilarious that Idina always screws up when she sings this in her concerts. The Fairfield version is my favorite because she messes up the lyrics at the very beginning but she gets right back into it, singing it perfectly after that. All the songs in her I Stand album are so personal and emotionally overwhelming. I listened to it all day every day when I first got my hands on it and love it very much, but this is the song that always stuck out to me, the one I love best.

The X-Files theme - Mark Snow
[ download ]
The song that always manages to freak me out when it first comes on in the opening credits, especially when they have a scary cold open. I really didn't have anything else to put in this letter, so I though I might as well use it to fangirl over The X-Files all over again. ;) I love this song so much because it plays on the official website and that means that there is actually a NEW MOVIE coming soon, OMG. I can't wait.

You Can't Stop the Beat - Hairspray OST
you can try to stop my dancin' feet
but I just cannot stand still
[ download ]
I embrace cheesiness and camp, and I love this soundtrack. I was completely obsessed with it for months, memorizing all the tracks very very quickly. This is the song I love the most, it makes me want to just jump up and dance. It always reminds me of the awesome last 10 minutes of the movie, the crazy dance moves, the giddiness and full-out JOY of everyone in that cast. It always makes me smile when I listen to it.

1,000 Things - Jason Mraz
I feel as though I've never seen a face before
until I saw your eyes
and they're smiling back at me through my tears
[ download ]
Possibly my most favorite Jason Mraz song, though I'm Yours cuts close. It's so full of joy and love, and he sings it so well in his signature style, one that I don't think anyone else can pull off.

wow, that only took forever.

**

"When Em and I got back together, I could see that she had never been less than what I'd figured her to be. If anything, she was always better than I remembered. And that's what I think love is," Chris said quietly. "When your hindsight's twenty-twenty, and you still wouldn't change a thing."
