Summary: Wataru's thoughts of a son as he fights along side Masao.
"Papa! Papa! Watch out!" Masao cried as one of the future fangire dove for the young man.
Wataru, dodging the fangire, looked to the young man who would be his future son. How far in the future were they now? Twenty-five years? Twenty-six? It seemed almost impossible, but he didn't fight the thought. After all, he had traveled twenty-two years into the past. Why couldn't he travel into the future?
This got him thinking though. Masao was his son. He wondered when he would get married. When he would fall in love again. Mio had been the only girl he had really cared for. He didn't know who he would fall for in the future. It was strange.
Who would his wife be? Who would he fall in love with? His son looked so much like his own father. He was surprised at the amazing resemblance. And he let him dress that way? Even he had learned better, but he wasn't going to fight it. It was his son, as well as it being the way of the world. A world of change, and he had helped to try and change it.
"Wataru-kun! Look out!" Taiga's voice came to him before the Emperor Kiva fell forward. He hadn't felt the slash across his back.
"Papa!"
"Wataru-kun!"
"Wataru!"
The calls of shock and fear from the six other fighters echoed in his ears. He was dazed, his vision blurring slightly. He blinked several times behind his visor. The pain was near blinding but he had to make it go away. He couldn't... He couldn't leave. He couldn't...
Slowly he stood, taking heavy breaths to help ease the pain he felt.. Stumbling slightly, he peared through his visor. Five of the six were standing in a protective circle around him. At his side was the normal form of Kiva - Masao, he knew now.
Yes, Masao was there. He couldn't leave... Not when he knew that is own son was the one of the few things keeping the world of the future - his future - safe from the distruction by the renegade fangire of the furture.
