To the owner of a slightly long-haired smokey gray cat:
I found her on my way to work. Her face - half blown off by whatever hit her - was already covered with a clump of leaves but her body was in the nesting curb, where the street cleaners would pick her up. Her fur was soft. Well groomed. She was taken out of the street so that a Dodge Ram or F150 couldn't pound her body to dust and gently placed on the grass, where she could at least decompose with some dignity. Her body was already stiff. It's 37 degrees Farenheit here, so who knows when she was hit? I stroked her flank, told her how sorry I was that this had happened, and sobbed all the way to work.
Don't let your cats wander outside.
