A bunch of questions from the techno-neanderthal...

okay - webcams are fairly cheap now, so I'm considering doing some kind of  conference-style classes...  is this a possibility yet now?
I mean like connecting with more than one person at a time visually  (like the old 'Ma Bell' used to offer big corporations in major cities years ago)  live - "video-conferencing" I believe is what I'm looking for...

So here's the flood of questions:

how many people can I link to at a time..?
can they hear/see each other too..? or just me..?
what kind of program/software do I need to pull this off..?
do I need additional equipment (besides cam & mike)..?
will I need an additional service..? or can I run this through my regular internet/ISP..?
are there things that I need to know that I haven't even thought of to ask..?

Okay next set of ditsy questions from the sorely unevolved:

my new laptop 'came' with wireless - I know pretty much next to nothing about this technology and how to get it to work...
all I know is the very basics: it allows you to work away from having to be wired into one spot (which means taking laptop with me & still having net access)...
okay - so here's the thing...  my laptop has a wireless on/off switch.  I believe the laptop has "Mobile Intel(R) 945GM Express Chipset Family"  (or that's what it say in the computer info)... so if I went to one of those infamous wifi "sweet spots" would I be able to just turn that wireless switch to on - and get on the net..?  or do I need something else first to be able to do that?
I know if I want to to wireless in the home I need the wireless modem/transmitter thing from my ISP (Verizon)... but I'm okay with being wired to the desk at home - what I am focused on is being able to be wireless outside the home.  What do I need..?

advice, technology, computer, huh
