well, the best solution I can come up with would be to observe other relationships. you can't really do this with real people, so watch movies, that way you can see how they behave towards each other both in public and in private. so: think of people you know who have relationship experience, and ask them what movies they think would have good examples (similar to their own, or just that they think are realistic...).
