[She came to thank Iroh for the recipes he willingly gave and when she can't see him inside, she heads for the pond. Once spotting him there, Katara hesitates for a moment (since he seems solemn) before speaking up.]

... General Iroh?

Katara! Are you back for some more of the Water Tribe tea?

[Maybe she iiiis.] Oh, I actually came here to thank you for the recipes you used during the celebration.

[Iroh chuckles a little]

You have thanked me plenty already.

I don't think there's enough gratitude to go around. [Which is true. All that effort was appalling. But the solemn scene earlier comes to mind once again.] Anyway, what are you doing out here?

I am enjoying the fresh air and my nephew's turtleducks. And thinking about old friends.

[Oh yeah, Mai left too. And Iroh considered Jet as a friend. And Sokka. And Aang.]

... I'm sorry they had to leave.

As am I.

[He sighs a little]

It's hard for me to believe that the war is over for them. I can't help wishing they were here, so I could know they're safe.

It's hard for me to believe the same thing, to be honest. Especially since... [She trails off, gathering her thoughts.] Since from the time I was dragged here, it's still raging.

[With a firmer voice:] But, I believe that we'd soon achieve peace. I've never stopped hoping that we will.
