[Iroh loves a holiday, whether he's familiar with it or not. He's spent the past few days researching different New Year's traditions and getting the Jasmine Dragon appropriately decked out. The idea of New Year's enchants him even more than the idea of Christmas. New beginnings are important...as is the opportunity to say goodbye to what is past.

He enters the tea shop for some relaxation. Hopefully they serve dextro-friendly tea here.]

Happy New Year, good sir! What can I get for you?

I guess I'll try some mint tea.

[Iroh is back shortly with a small pot and a cup. He sets it down and then settles across from Garrus.]
I don't believe I've seen you around here before.

I haven't been here that long, just over a month and a half.
[He sips the tea gingerly, somehow not spilling it despite not having flexible lips. At least tea is safe enough for turians as far as human drinks go.]

Well then, may I offer you a belated welcome to our fair City! How are you enjoying yourself so far?

What kind of world do you come from?

It's not really a world so much as a galaxy. There's different planets with various species on them, including colony worlds.

Aaah, love. There is a peculiar heartache when you are parted from the one you love. I know it well. You have my sympathies.

[Takes another sip of tea, then refills his cup.]
Well, I was born on Palaven, that's the homeworld of my kind, but I haven't lived there in years. I lived on the Citadel for a few standard galactic years, but the place I consider my real home is the ship my lover and I serve on.

Actually, it's a space ship, the kind that fly. And I'm actually a former law enforcement officer turned vigilante.

What made you leave law enforcement?

[He takes a drink of tea to wet his throat.]
I was tired of the rules and regulations keeping me from doing my job. Then one day Commander Shepard found me and asked me to join her in bringing in a dangerous rogue agent named Saren. Who was I to say no?
After Saren was gone, I stayed with Shepard for a while, then... something bad happened. I rejoined the force, but the Citadel Council refused to tell the truth about what happened, and the truth about what we fought to stop. That was when I quit forever and went to Omega to be a vigilante.
