Friend cuts always seem to make me sad. Especially when I realise I've been cut and I ponder my efforts to branch out to people.

I understand them, however. I just don't think I could bring myself to do them.

They make me sad, too, but this one was a long time coming. I had about 50 'friends' I hadn't spoken to in over a year or were completely inactive, and it didn't make sense to keep them anymore... It sounds really callous, doesn't it?

It's a very strange thing. It sounds very callous but yet it's part of the culture on livejournal. You can have two hundred friends and only talk to a select few.

It's both fascinating and sad I suppose. You could probably write an essay about the culture and social influences of the blogging sites.

Hahaha, I could! But it seems like too much work.

I think the real problem is, we gauge our self-worth by how many friends we have--much like facebook--and I think I'm at a point in my life where I don't need to do that.

I'm fine having only a handful of friends as long as they're people I talk to and share interests with, such as yourself.

If I had more time, I am certain I would. It sounds like a very interesting research topic to say the least!

I think you have a point. I mean there are a few exceptions who don't look at it that way, but the "well I have x amount of friends on y site" is very common.

♥ You're very sweet.

Definitely! It's too bad I don't know anyone in psych/socio looking for a thesis.

Well, yeah, of course; there are exceptions to everything.
