Wii things....

I have spent far too long watching the internet (while I should be doing other things) for an announcement I should have known would not be what I wanted it to be.

Nintendo have released the price (not such a big deal) and release date (big deal) for the Wii.  Decembe 2nd here in Japan and November 19th if I recall for the USA.  About 25,000yen so about $200-250.  I was hoping for a quick release over here so I could grab one before I go back to the UK and although my visa does allow me to stay until the 25th of December other situations do not.

Looks like I will try and import a US machine I guess.  Or just sit back for a bit and get the Japanese one as I think that will be the easier option.

At least some very interesting news is starting to filter out now.  The Wii OS and the various channels look like they work quite well and the Photo Channel is a genius move.  With Print Club and the like so popular here along with the high saturation of mobile phones (95 million phones for 127 million people) photo communication is huge.

Mii.  You can make you own avatar in the sytle of the ones seen in Wii Tennis.

500y, 800y and 1000y for Famicom, SNES and N64 games respecitvly on the Virtual Console.

Companies signed up for the Virtual Console:  Konami, Atlus, Masya, Capcom, SEGA, Sunsoft, Jaleco, Tecmo, Taito, Takara, Bandai Namco, Square Enix, HAL, Banpresto, Hudson, Irem, Koei and a few other whose logo I don't recognise.

I need lunch.

I also need to book flights, it looks like I will be taking an October trip to Hokkaido to see Koyo.  Koyo is the word they use for the time of year when trees leaves change from green to various shades of green, brown, red and orange.  There is a natural hot spring waterfall I would like to fit into the trip too but you have to wade waist deep upstream for 30 minutes to get to it and I don't know how deep it is..... and I'm not a strong swimmer.  Maybe I'll settle for the wild bears instead.

Too cold......

April, May, June, July, August, September, December and January are the months I have sampled in Japan over the last few years.  I have always either been too hot or too cold.  I'm not just whinging either.  It may sound like it but I'm not.  I've yet to find a month where the weather is nice.  You get days here and there, we had a few last week, but no real long periods of nice weather.

Telling people in the UK how hot it is over here is pointless, you tell them and they say "it's hot here too, you know", yeah, try adding a few degrees (it hit 37 in Tokyo but due to pollution and being inner city some places reported 39) with humidity of 80% or so and you get the idea.

I wish I could bottle the heat and take some back to show people just hot hot it is.

Then there is the cold.  Just a few days ago cold showers were the order of the day, now in this land of no central heating a shower at about 50degrees is comfy.  Your arse stills gets cold if you don't spray it every 10 seconds but you don't need all those details really.  Soon it will be time to get down to the petrol station and fill the ol' tank with parrafin every now and then just to keep one corner of a room warm.

Maybe it's this colder weather that is causing me to eat too much wasabi.  I have to ask for it when we go for sushi and notice that I am gradually putting more and more in the soy sauce.  Last night I started to smear it onto the sushi aswell.  Ah well, at least it's healthy.
