you know, on the whole, i like hawaii. i like the hot weather, i like the beach, the asian vibe about it, the shopping, the tackiness of waikiki, but i'm finding it hard to handle the curtness of the locals. they just don't have any time for tourists, especially those with foreign accents. even the 'nice' ones are still so obviously faking it. you can tell they're only tolerating you and responding to friendly banter so as to get rid of you quickly. i guess i'm just too used to australians. on the whole we like to have a chat. agreed? but then if we don't want to, we just don't, but we still find the manners to smile. it's usually genuine friendliness as well.
something else about hawaii is the food!! everywhere you go there's JUNK. on your left burger king, a few steps down hagen daaz, further on starbucks, krispy kreme, subway, maccas, some deep fried shit, chinese shit, 'italian' shit, another ice creamery or five. it's incredible. and i'm yet to go near one of them, im too ashamed. i just eat apples and drink milk. it's honestly the last thing i feel like in the heat anyway, junk
food. i need as much energy as i can get.
but anyway. im still having fun. anything is better than working with my dad.
hitting up the northshore tomorrow so i'll make sure i post some photos and such.
