Hello! I got back from the Merlin premiere at about 12.30am on Monday morning and then had to work until 7pm Monday and Tuesday, which is why this entry is fashionably late and full of facts you've ALREADY READ ELSEWHERE! Nonetheless...
So, we set off for London on Saturday morning and, as you no doubt gathered from my last entry, IT WAS VERY EXCITING! As I said, we were literally just entering the city when
Stephen Merchant crossed the road in front of our car! "Who's this hipster?" I said (with reference to
this website...even though he looked completely ordinary) and then we said in unison "hang on, isn't that...that guy! The Extras guy." So, yes. Stephen Merchant. Then we rounded the corner to see a car that was producing bubbles and I was joyous!
Later on we went to Camden and walked around the market. Nobody buys anything in Camden, people just walk around looking cool. Except me, because I got very over-excited when I saw the name of this shop and fumbled for my camera so that I could show all my fellow Lost fans!
Maybe Pierre Chang opened this shop after he got off the Island...although he'd have to employ someone else to do the manufacturing I fear, what with his five fingers and all D: D: D:
Later on we went to the Natural History Museum and it was fantastic :D. I wish I'd taken a better photo so you could see how big this guy actually was!
They also had an animatronic Tyrannosaurus Rex, which totally mesmerised me! I took a video and it looks kinda crap...but I just wasn't expecting to see him when I rounded the corner and so I thought he was awesome! So many kids were crying and having to be taken out of the room. Heh.

So, aside from the dinosaur bones they also had some furry critters. I thought this guy was kinda cute.
This next chap, however...well, see for yourself...
Bless him! Look at his silly expression! I love him. So, I tried to take a funny photo of him, but behold! I ended up taking an accidental video as my camera was on the wrong setting. So it ended up being even funnier, but at my expense!

Argh!
I really like this photo! This was in a room that housed the skeleton of a Blue Whale...there was no way I was fitting that in a photo!
So, after that we made our way to the nearest tube station to the BFI and met
fera_festiva and the Underlord. They were both so fantastic and much fun was had as
fera_festiva and I tried to calm down a little before the stroll over the bridge to the cinema :D. Wine was involved. We walked through the park towards the venue and, as if evidence were needed, we found found further proof that pigeons can't read.
Naughty pigeons.
Inside the BFI,
fera_festiva and I collected the tickets and then found a robot. This is not a flattering photo of me or the robot.
As we went to take our seats we noticed tidal waves of women in their twenties, we were clearly in good company! It's hard to estimate the exact numbers of fangirls vs. children, but I'd say it was probably a 70/30 split in favour of the fangirls :D. So there we were, sitting there excitedly...when the cast walked right past us! Alas, the only shot I got was...well...most apt. The back of Anthony Head's head.
I love that the guy on the row behind us looks so traumatised. "Just look straight ahead, don't look at Anthony, everything will be fine."
I'm so sorry that I failed you guys and didn't get a shot of Colin and Bradley D: D: D:...honestly, my mind wasn't functioning correctly, I can hardly remember anything that happened, I was so excited! Good job most of you will have already read about it! The episode was amazing, my favourite one so far I think, the increase in the budget has really made a difference and it looked fantastic on the big screen.
I'm not going to write a plot synopsis, because I don't want to catch anyone off guard with spoilers! I'll write about it when it airs on the BBC :D. The only thing I will mention is perhaps the best moment of my life so far, involving Bradley James. So, everyone is ooh-ing and ahh-ing and generally being very vocal about everything (especially the slash). At one point, Arthur was particularly mean to Merlin and the whole audience went 'ahhhh!' to which Bradley shouted "Oh, he deserves it!" And it was amazing.
What I will write about, however is the Q&A! Oh, it was so fantastic...except that weren't allowed to take photographs T__T. I managed to get this one measly picture before we all had to put our cameras away. It is awful! But behold! Richard Wilson and Colin's ear!
So Bradley was amazingly funny, although I must admit he had me at the 'he deserves it' line. No, wait...he had me at the beginning of the first episode ♥__♥. There was another awesome moment when a little boy was given the microphone and froze for about five seconds. The next thing he said was '...I've forgotten his name!' To which Bradley responded by pointing to the six foot high Merlin logo on the curtains behind them and sarcastically droning 'Meeeerrrrlllllliiiiiiin' in, what can only be described as an
amaaaaaaazing boooooooook tone of voice.
You know what, I'm just going to put this in bullet points, because my brain still can't manage to form this into proper paragraphs. Some of my favourite moments were...
* Angel's story about someone bowing to her in a kebab shop...and then being all Gwen-like and retracting what she'd said! 'I mean, I was buying the kebab for someone else, obviously it wasn't for me.'
* Anthony being like a proud father, smiling over at Bradley the whole time and laughing at his jokes. He also gave Richard Wilson the most wonderful smile when they first came onto the stage. Also the way he handled the little boy calling him Giles XD.
* Best question of the night: 'What was actually in the rat stew?' Haha! Katie informed us that it was tofu in cold mushroom soup, which was absolutely vile. She also said that they neglected to yell cut when her scene ended, so she ended up eating far more of it than was necessary. Bradley then went on a tirade about how annoying it was that Colin was a vegetarian and that if they shared a meal on-screen it couldn't contain meat!
* Richard Wilson, who had either nodded off during the whole Q&A, or who managed to be very sarcastic and silly when someone asked what his favourite episode was. 'What, from series one or from both of them?' You're still filming series two, Richard. 'Oh, you haven't seen series two?' LOL!
* Obviously, one of the most memorable moments was the one that has made the internet explode: BRADLEY JAMES' RPS COMMENT. So, at the beginning of the screening the host made reference to the majority of the audience as, and I quote, 'adult fantasy fans.' I'm not sure he realised quite how adult we were, haha! So, by the end of the episode I think he'd got the gist of why we were all there, but yet still made the schoolboy error of saying that 'Arthur and Merlin will grow old together.' There was a joyous roar from the crowd. And Bradley, bless him, with a huge cheeky grin on his face, said 'Ahh, but do you mean Colin and Bradley or Arthur and Merlin?' He might as well have given a giant wink to the audience. He. Is. Awesome. It just makes me wonder what the parents in the audience must've thought throughout the whole thing. I mean, we were all so raucous...and it was obvious what we were laughing at/cheering for (especially seeing as there were boos when Gwen and Arthur were on-screen together!) "Mummy, why was everyone laughing when Merlin knelt down in front of Arthur?" Oh dear. I'm sure the cast and crew are aware of it, due to questions they've been asked at panels and such like...but it must've come as something as a shock to the rest of the audience!
*Colin was rather quiet and shy, bless him. This was probably not helped by the audible gasp that the audience made the first time he opened his mouth to speak, 'What?! He isn't English? Oh my word!'
*Katie looked awesomely cool in huge glasses and sparkly top, Bradley was wearing some kind of military hoodie! I could only really see Colin's ears and cheekbones...but what more do you need?!
* (SLIGHT SPOILER FOR LATER EPISODES) What was also amazing and I nearly forgot to mention was the preview of the second series at the end of the episode. There was an awesome bit of bad (clever?) editing that showed Arthur shouting 'Nothing can ever happen between us, Merlin!' HAHAHAHAHAHA XD.
So, all in all it was amazing! One of the best thing's that has ever happened to me :D. Afterwards we were going to hang around in the hope that there might be a chance for autographs (although, I really don't think I could've coped with speaking to the boys, I'd have died or thrown up or...something worse) but there was a man practically sweeping us out of the building. So we decided to go have a drink instead and make the most of our time together. Alas, obviously we missed the Anthony and Katie signing, but what can you do?
On the way out of the cinema I took this photo of some trees...and it wasn't until I uploaded it to photobucket that I noticed the Bradley and Colin-a-likes. Oh. My. Days. Check them out, right in the middle of the picture! I like to think that they changed their clothes to sneak out incognito and snuggle in the street. It really does look like them though, right? Yesssssssssssss!
I think what lets this picture down is the size of Colin's trainers. It's clearly not him. T__T
So,
fera_festiva and I posed with one of the trees! And then spent forever trying to find a suitable location to recreate
this iconic picture. Alas, we couldn't find one, so we went to the pub instead. And lo!
It was the best day ever. I just want to say a huge thank you to
fera_festiva for getting the tickets and to her and the Underlord for being so wonderful and funny and nice. And to Jim for driving me down there and putting up with my fangirl antics. If you'd like a more indepth account
fera_festiva has written the most wonderfully detailed blog about the day
over here.
NOT LONG NOW AND WE CAN ALL TALK ABOUT THE NEW EPISODE TOGETHER! ♥
