Guys! I've missed you! I've caught up with your journals and am once again in the loop! In a nutshell I have been doing boring things like working and exciting things like finally seeing Star Trek and buying a bicycle. Bad things like migraines and general woe kept me away from you, plus my laptop has been slowly dying byte by byte. LOL! bit by bit and now the battery won't charge...so my internet time has been limited to me being tethered to the wall, which has also made me fall behind a little D:. THINGS HAVE CONSPIRED. I'm sorry.
So yes, I BOUGHT A BIKE! My specifications were that it had to look vintage, it had to have a basket and that the frame had to be all one colour, but most of all it had to be light. Meet my new baby!
I have provisionally named him Franz because I thought he looked German, but I was toying with Arthur or Regulus (he's Black!)...so do you think I should I switch? Any other ideas? He actually looks more handsome than this now, as I've bought him some mudguards.
The man in the cycle shop despaired of me because I didn't want one of those spiny futuristic helmets D:. He was pretty rude actually and walked off in the end. I've been playing a lot of Fallout 3 and I wanted some 40s/50s looking thing that was solid and without too many vents. This was the best I could manage, it's a Tony Hawk helmet, hahahaha! Also, behold the chapped lips of ultimate doom. I am on some crazy ass drugs to make my skin better and they have crappy side-effects. This is in no way a flattering photograph. Apologies for the MySpace angle.
We decided to go to
Clumber Park to give him a test drive, it's only about twenty minutes away from my house and it's so beautiful there. They had a WWII event on, I was so grumpy that I didn't know about it beforehand and hadn't dressed up :-(. Anyway, look how pretty the place is!
I'm just so excited to have a bike, for years I'd thought that cycling would be impossible due to me having two objectionable and dastardly ailments. They're both chronic pain/chronic fatigue illnesses which make it hard for me to do physical exercise, but I'm getting on with the cycling so much better than I thought I would, it's opened up my world a little bit...also, there's a cosplay outfit I'm planning for August that calls for, dun dun duuun, leggings D: - I NEED TO GET FIT!
Anyway, enough of all that, here are some non-bike pictures.
I went to a wedding reception just over a week ago. I didn't know anyone there, not even the happy couple! Anyway, it was in the most beautiful old hall here in Derbyshire. This is me in the garden, that dress was £3, people! I needed a belt to go with it, so I went out looking for a white one. That was the only wide white one I could find...I picked it up, saw it was gold and diamanté and proclaimed THIS IS HIDEOUS, then I saw that the buckle was actually a feather and decided that it was, in fact, awesome.
There was a real life wedding singer there, which was entertaining. He even had a little roadie...who we suspected may have been his dad. He mainly did Rat Pack stuff, but then made an ill advised foray into the realms of Michael Jackson (who was still alive and moonwalking at that point) and Take That.
We didn't get any shots of the house, which was a shame, but I've managed to scavenge a few from the internet!
It was creepy and gorgeous! I know this next one is ridiculously tiny, but I couldn't find another picture that showed just how lovely the scenery was, look at the house just nestled in the valley! I wish I could live there.
Getting back to reality...
I'm sorry to bore you with another picture from the bottom of my garden, but look how pretty it looks now! I just love poppies. I also wish that was my house across the field :(. I just get to stare at it everyday instead.
Just look how amazing
fera_festiva is. She made me these awesome dolls of Daniel and Desmond as a present and she doesn't ever watch Lost. LOOK AT THEM! I could cry. Thank you so, so much! You are so wonderful ♥
More points in brief:
1) Wait, what?! Neil Gaiman is actually dating Amanda Palmer? Oh man, I am so slow. How did I not know this?
2)
Jens Lekman has swine flu D: D: D:. Poor Jens! I hope he gets well soon. Here's an MP3 of his, it's called
Maple Leaves.
3) Everyone has seen this, right? I meant to post it a while ago. Cannot. Compute. Malfunction. This has to be shopped, right? ETA:
tundraeternal has used her investigative powers and has sniffed out the truth! The verdict is: we can all sleep soundly tonight knowing that we do not live in a world where Richard Dawkins and Emma Watson share a face.
4) So, us Brits are laughably behind, but episode 7x01 of CSI: Miami just aired over here and
After seeing some trailers last week...
Co-workers: Omg, so Horatio is really dead!
Me: He's not dead.
Co-workers: He is! They zipped him up in a body bag!
Me: No, they zipped up a body bag! They totally wouldn't have shown you that if he'd really been killed. Besides, it's Horatio! They wouldn't kill him. Trust me, he's not dead.
Co-workers: Body bag! Blood! Dead! That young one said he was dead!
In a separate incident:
My Mum: Mr.Wolfe did it. He got that text.
Just before the show started I was thinking about Ryan and how they were setting him up as the culprit...and how they should've made 'I trust Ryan Wolfe' merchandise, like all the Snape stuff after HBP, haha! Then it all turned out to be very much like HBP, with Wolfe following Horatio's orders and stuff...except, you know, Horatio didn't actually die ...BUT WE SAW HIM IN THE BODY BAG :-O!!! Anyway, the HP link made me smile. OMG TWO WEEKS! But there aren't any midnight showings here and my Gryffindor jumper doesn't fit me any more. Woe.
5) This post is way too long and I haven't even talked about Star Trek yet. Another time.
6)
fera_festiva and
ladytelemachus, words cannot express how happy your parcels made me. They both arrived on such sad days and cheered me up beyond measure. Thank you so much ♥
7) So many of you seem to be going through such awful things right now, I just want you to know that I'm thinking of you and hoping that things get better soon *huge hugs.* What is it with 2009? Hurry up and end already, I'm sick of this sight of you D:
