Friends Of Mine

Aug 14, 2008 01:36

Things of note:

1) Enormous thanks to tundraeternal for the exciting things I received in the mail. You are completely made of win. Pictures below the cut :D

2) I had a lovely day last Wednesday when I met up with forest_rose. We drank fancy tea and talked endlessly and she bought me a gorgeous quill and helped me choose material for a cloak...

3) I am making a cloak. forest_rose is hosting a fabulously exciting Harry Potter live roleplay event on Saturday and I'm playing Sirius! Hooray! So, yes, this cloak is almost ready to be sewn up on the machine. It's light grey and looks like a Highwayman's cloak (or a Beauxbatons cloak, I realised today D:). I'm excited and scared, I've been told there are to be Dementors present at this event, and consequently much angst for me.

4) I've only just got around to watching Pushing Daisies and Arrested Development, both of them are beyond awesome, I am so behind the times.

5) I'm not even a third of the way through reading The Blade Itself by Joe Abercrombie and it might already have won a place in my top three books of all time. OMG! In fact, it's so good that on my train journey home from fine-tea-drinking on Wednesday a man actually reached across the gangway of the train to pat my book and tell me how good he thought it was! Has anyone else read it?

6) I've got a Blackberry! Oh God, I love it. I love it! tundraeternal you were so right. I've had it since Saturday, it's changed my life. I can look at the real internet any time I want! None of this silly WAP business, I've got the real deal, baby!

7) Happy Birthday to starla_kid, and belated birthday wishes to mindabbles and _emeraldgreen. Sorry I'm late, I hope both you had a lovely day.

8) Pretty comments page is disabled as I'm having a few problems with older browsers and I fail at fixing my CSS and omgthemelayersaretheworkofthedevil.

o_deanna + gin + unnecessary amount of straws = :D. Yes, I actually left the house to go for a drink with my friends.

These are the aforementioned friends. Jen on the left looks like Caitlin from NCIS Y/Y?

There was a chalk board in the ladies toilets and Jenny and I got far too excited about writing on it. Inspired by Hank Green's Helen Hunt, I suggested we draw the table you see above. We both struggled to think of the third member of the guilt free three, slightly intoxicated as we were. I forgot about Ron Livingston and Nathan Fillion D:, either of them would've been an admirable addition to the group. But really, it's just a guilt free one for me. Oh Jeremy.

= ♥
Actually we were both laughing at how obscure our choices would look to the next lucky lady to visit the cubicle. I think Clive Owen spoils the mood of the piece, but what can you do?!

Jim and I went to the wedding of his work colleague. This is the dress I bought from the lady in Blanche! I fail at funny faces. See five pictures down.

A rare appearance from o_deanna's wonky teeth. I love them really. Hail Patricia Arquette and Kirsten Dunst, patron saints of snaggle. Jim got new specs. We are turning into The Handsome Family.

Jim bought me a uke! :D :D :D I never got around to buying one when I said I would. I'm sad that E minor is so much harder to play than on guitar, it's my favourite chord ;__;. Keen-eyed readers will also spot a cameo appearance from Ghost Chair.

This is the beautiful quill that forest_rose bought for me! The artistic ink splodges are most definitely mine. Oops. Ink bottle opening fail!

tundraeternal sent me precious things through the mail! Thank you so, so much!! We've been exchanging local paraphernalia and hers beat mine hands down! I absolutely love the Engrish stationary, but alas the fan has had little use because as soon as I moaned about the heat it started to rain. I've had much fun pretending to be Spanish lady though, so it's found a good home with me. She also sent me...

...this awesome head gear! This was me trying to pull a humorous face. It was the best of a very bad bunch, so it will have to suffice. Thanks again, tundraeternal, ILU and NY!

I also got this in the mail from the ever-lovely forest_rose. It's the character guide for the Harry Potter lrp that she's running at the weekend.

Look how pretty it is! The wax seal is blank because it's a super sekrit sekrit letter from someone who is rather safety conscious...

...Mad-Eye Moody!

I took this photo on Sunday. This is my favourite goose in the whole world. Jim lives alongside a canal and the geese pretty much live in his garden. I picked this little guy as my favourite months ago because he has such a kind face compared to the others, much more white on him. Shortly after I declared him to be my favourite I saw him walk WITH A PRONOUNCED LIMP!! The poor thing. So, yes, he's firmly my favourite. I'm so in love with him. He doesn't even honk like the others he sort of hoots. He's just gorgeous.

Cam whoring! It was Jenny's birthday on Monday night and we all went out for a Chinese meal. I took this in the toilets because I am vain and because I wanted a visual record of my hair behaving itself.

My Blackberry! I'm so, so happy with it! I have unlimited internets and texts! It's exciting to think I can update my journal from the bus! Does anyone want my new number? I really should f-lock this, Mad-Eye Moody would have a heart attack, but I throw caution in the face of danger and laugh at the wind - no, wait...
