Heed my lecture

Mmm 2007. Let's see what the year has brought so far.

Last Saturday (okay so not quite the new year yet) I went to the city with Andrew, Mike, Chris, Justin, our parents, etc. Umm we mostly just walked around, haha. We went to Grand Central Station and ate, then watched the light show. Then we looked at some of the department store window displays and saw the Christmas tree at Rockefeller Center. Afterwards Mike, Chris, Justin, Andrew and I took the train home while our parents went to some party thing at a hotel. We kind of just hung out at home, obsessed over the Wii, and sang/played piano. Eventually we started to get hungry so all five of us made mac and cheese (well mostly just Mike and me). White cheddar macaroni and cheese at 11:30 PM = best thing ever. It's heavenly.

We spent New Year's Eve here again as usual, and my awesome cousins (except Lisa) came over. I got like half my Christmas presents since I didn't see my mom's side of the family for Christmas. We also did our Secret Santa with the cousins and our elephant gifts (I got an iTunes gift card and a pretty glass jewelry box). We eventually got bored so we started to make a murder mystery movie. Justin is this bastard lawyer who gets killed; Mike & Scott (2 gay guys in jail), Andrew & Chris (2 guys Justin fired), and I (his wife) are the suspects. Oh and Katrina is the police officer and Kristie is filming it. It's really good so far but we didn't get to finish so hopefully we'll be able to soon. Well at midnight we watched the ball drop and we all got hugs & kisses and it was fun, YAY.

Monday was my daddy's birthday and we went out to dinner at Mim's. Andrew and I gave him this little pocketknife-sort-of-kind-of thing. lol. Except I was up till 1 doing work so that wasn't fun.

So somehow I came up with this idea and I've been writing down a lot of my firsts of 2007. They're not things I've never done before, just normal stuff... first word of the year, first hug of the year, first phone call of the year, etc. I'm gonna continue adding to it throughout the year and maybe at the end of 2007 I'll post it here. I'll look back on all the times everything on that list occurred and think of what has happened since then and how much has changed. Because really, I think this year is going to bring a lot of change. And I'm kind of looking forward to it... the people I'm gonna meet, the places I'm gonna go, the new things I'm gonna do. Not that I plan to do anything totally drastic this year, I just have a feeling things will be different. And I know that a year is just a man-made invention to keep track of time and it really means nothing except the position of the earth with regard to the sun, but psychologically it makes life seem like a story where each year is a different chapter in our lives. And I like the way it is, because it makes events easier to remember and then life seems more like a gradual, onward progression rather than a long, indefinite stretch of time. So... here's to 2007.
