I officially had the most shamefully lame new year's ever. I went on the annual
Waihi beach trip with my friends, but was so stuffed up with a cold I had to come home a day early on the 31st. So I spent the last golden hours of the year on the couch, unable to work my parents' fancy new dvd/tv/surround sound system (it requires FOUR remotes), steadily working my way through a box of tissues. My parents came home just before midnight, got the tv working for me, and we flicked between a Queen concert, the Royal Variety Show (absolutely ridiculous! Even James Morrison's simple acoustic pop song apparently required two dozen befeathered backup dancers), and my personal favourite, the 1996 'Farewell to the World' Crowded House concert in Sydney.
Fortunately, there are some cool concerts coming up to make up for this. Joanna Newsom & Calexico are coming to Wellington (separately) this summer, and Damien Rice is playing in Auckland, although I doubt I'll have enough moolah to fly up for that one.
I hope you all have a happy new year's eve, and that 2007 brings you many exciting and fulfilling days!
