This weekend was good. Mostly. I still don't like my dad's family, I don't think I ever will, but I can tolerate them better than Alison can (I think...).
Friday: Went to a speaker at 2 for part of the Storyteller's Festival. Rex Ellis. He's worked at the Smithsonian (<3) and now is the vice president of... something at Williamsburg (<3). He was amazing. He spoke on the importance of historical research and primary sources. It was fascinating. :) Went home. Got there around 7. I should've been home by 6 but the traffic was effing insane and so it took me an extra hour. GRR!!! At home Jeopardy! was on and there was a question about "The Frug" and I didn't konw it was a real thing and so I commented about the RK song and that sparked Dad and so he gave me part of my gift. Execution of All Things (I had to exchange it), a bendy Brian (from Family Guy) key chain and mints with Peter and "Freakin' Sweet" on the front. Went to.. I don't know what it's called for dinner and drinks with Mom, Dad, and Aunt Pat (who invited herself along. I hate her for doing that...). It was good. I tried a Black and Tan by recommendation of Sean Dobbs, but, eh, beer's not my thing. So Dad drank it and I had a margarita (yum). Then we went to the Rustic Pub down Grand River and bumped into Melissa Miller who I haven't seen since 2nd grade. It was cool. I had a fuzzy navel and Melissa bought me a buttle nipple which tasted like candy. :)
Saturday: Went downtown with P.A.T. Went to the DIA (and their cursed mandatory donation during construction...), the Scarab Club (which is basically just a gallery), and then to Greektown. The food was amazing. Saganaki (I <3 cheese...) and then gyros/Souvlaki for the meal and I don't remember what the dessert was called but it was good. Then they wanted to head out but Bryan really wanted to go to Novi and get coffee so I led them from downtown Detroit to Novi and then down G.R. to Coffee Beanery for coffee. Around 6 they headed back up and I went home. Mom was making pie. She gave me a little bottle of Bailey's and a little bottle of Buttershot's (that she bought when she was running errands) so I could make my own butter nipple. Dad got home around 730. He gave me another part of my gift. The Elected's CD "Me First". We listened to it (it's awesome!) in the car on the way to Dearborn Music to exchange the CD he bought me (Execution of All Things. I had it already but he couldn't remember. But he bought me my favorite RK cd, even if it was a duplicate). Dearborn Music is amazing. I love that place. I must go back. Then we got back home around 10. We watched my Gilmore Girls on tape (3 episodes). Then we went to bed.
Today: Busia and Aunt Pat came over. We had lots of food. Dip, soup, caramel corn. Then had PizzaPapalis for dinner. Then did gifts. Busia's first then mine. I got a pen box from Aunt Pat but none of my cool pens fit in it so I'll be returning it. It's really pretty though. From Busia I got a bottle of Kahlua, a brown fleece hoodie, and the 21 statue in my collection. From Mom and Dad I got Green Eggs & Ham in Latin (!!!), God Blees You, Mr. Rosewater, The Memory Keeper's Daughter, and Bullfinch's Mythology (all books), and violet candy and a cow PEZ dispenser. Alison's going to do for me what I did for her and just take me shopping with a limit. I brought so much food back up with me. :)
